Show Review - Thursday, March 31, 1983 - Page 6 PG High PTSA to hold elections Friday at school Rosalie Smith, president of the Pleasant Grove High School PTSA, announced today that election of PTSA officers for the next year will be held April 5 during Parent's visiting day. All PTA members attending the parent-teache- r conferences are asked to indicate their preference on the ballots on hand. Room for write-in- s will be provided. Mrs. Smith said the only candidate will be Kathy Fryer who is running for first vice president. Rosalie Scholes, this year's first vice president, will become president next year. Rosalie said that the installation of the new officers will be held in May. Mrs. Scholes served as Pleasant Grove Council PTA president three years ago. She has served as president of the Grovecrest PTA and was a member of the PTA board there for eight years. She served on the Pleasant Grove Junior High School board for two years and has worked with the high school VTSA for the past year. She is married to Thomas Scholes and they are the parents of six boys and one girl. Her hobbies are sewing and crafts. She loves sports and is a coach for the city recreation in boys baseball. Rosalie grew up in Provo. She and her family have lived here for nine years. Kathy is the wife of David Fryer and they have six children. They have lived in the Manila area for 11 ROSALIE SCHOLES years. She has attended BYU and LDS business College. She worked as a dental assistant while her husband finished his degree in Engineering at BYU. She has served as MIA president and counselor in the Primary organization of the LDS Church. She teaches the Mother Education lessons in her ward Relief Society. She has worked three years on the PTA board at Grovecrest School, one year on the Pleasant Grove Junior High School board, and is presently serving on the high school PTSA board. Absent was Zachary Lindon School names Citizens of the Month lindon School has again selecU'd its Citizens of the Month for February. They include Mike Keetch, Ryan Cook, Jared Johnson, Paul Sant, Joanna Jones, Jennifer Mecham, Holly Parks, Travis Patch, Mary Ercanbrach, Malina Austin, Stacey Payne, Troy Carlton, Jenny Houser, James Bliss, Joanna Humphrey, Clark Harris, Jennifer Long, Richard Williams, Jon Weeks, Chris Hanse, Zachary Dain, Jeremy Wcstphal, and Mayaline Hepting. Certificates were presented to these students last week. Also recognized for her accomplishment was Cory Biesinger, school spelling bee winner. Voting for President-elec-t for Lindon Elementary PfA took place during parent visiting days on March 3rd and 4th. Gayleen Carlton won the election and will serve during the 1983-8- 4 school year as president-elec- t and then president during the 1984-8- 5 school year. Mrs. Carlton is the mother of three children and has been active in community affairs and has served on several committees. Currently she works with the Brownie and Cub Scout programs and together she and her husband have formed and are administering a pee-we- e pitch ball league similar to the "T" ball for 6, 7, and 8 year olds in the Lindon, Pleasant Grove, and Manila areas. March 28 through April 1 will mark scholarship raising week, according to Karen VanOrden, Lindon PTA President. The school is helping to raise funds for the Pleasant Grove High School scholarship fund. During that week each elementary student will be asked to bring 25f to contribute to the scholarship fund. Eagle Scout badge presented to Jerel W. Newman in ceremony Jerel W. Newman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence J. Newman, has received his Eagle Badge in ceremonies held in the Manila Stake Court of Honor. Jerel, 13, is a member of Troop 166 of the Pleasant Grove 6th Ward. He has received the Arrow of Light and the On My Honor Awards. He has served as senior patrol leader and deacon's quorum president. Jerel is on the high honor roll at Pleasant Grove High School with a GPA of 3.96. He is in the eighth grade. He enjoys wood working, crafts, all sports especially soccer, tennis, track and field. He is a member of the U.S. Achievement Academy in the field of Science. Jerel also plays the piano. For his Eagle project he made two sturdy benches for use in the autistic unit of the Dan Peterson JEREL W. NEWMAN School for the handicapped. Alpine Chamber Orchestra and chorus to present 'Messiah' The Alpine Chamber Orchestra and Chorus will present the Easter portion of Handel's "Messiah," Easter Sunday, April 3, at 8 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove High School Auditorium. Soloists will include Debra J 1 T Coletti, Soprano; Nancy Ekins, Alto; Joseph Toscano, Tenor; and Bill Peterson, Bass. There will be no admission charge for this special Easter program.
