Sundberg has filed for re-election for the post he has held for the past seven years. A native of Utah County Elwood El-wood has spent his entire life here except for a period of time in the Marine Corps, in World War II and College of Southern Calimornia. He believes in bringing qualifications qual-ifications and skills to this important im-portant and complex governmental govern-mental office. His background shows an extensive amount of education and experience in the fields of accounting and business. busi-ness. Mr. Sundberg is a gradu-at gradu-at of the L.D.S. Business College, Col-lege, a graduate of the California Califor-nia College of Mortuary Science, Sci-ence, and has 5 years of extension exten-sion division at B.Y.U. majoring major-ing in accounting. His experience: exper-ience: 15 years of public accounting ac-counting with a well known C.P.A. firm and a total of 30 years as owner of his own bus-ness bus-ness as well. During his service in the Auditors office, Elwood has been inovative in his efforts to keep pace with the vast growth of Utah County through a constant con-stant updating of equipment and personnel. He has taken time from his busy life to serve in many church and civic assignments. as-signments. For the past 6 years he has served in the B.Y.U.-L.D.S. B.Y.U.-L.D.S. 3rd stake as Clerk, Executive Ex-ecutive Secretary, High Councilman, Coun-cilman, Bishop and Branch' President. Mr. Sundberg is currently serving as Treasurer of County Action Agency which is the central administration of such programs as Head Start, Foster grandparents and others. oth-ers. He has also served many years on the Orem City Plan-nig Plan-nig Board and is currently board member of S.C.E.R.A., Treasurer of Utah Valley Opera Association, a member of B.P. O.E., and a member of Utah , County Public Accountants. Being a sports buff, he has supported and helped manage and coach little league baseball basketball and softball. Married to former Lu Jean Olpin, they recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They are the parents of 7 children, child-ren, As County Auditor, Mr. Sundberg Sund-berg has been asked to head a study group of County Officials Offi-cials and local citizens to determine de-termine the feasibility and implementation im-plementation of a computer installation to further modernize modern-ize and update his own and many other county offices. Mr. Sundberg boasts that while he has served in office, there has never been a year when the county budget has not been balanced bal-anced and the mill tax levy maintained is one of the lowest low-est in the state. He attributes this to good honest government officials. One county official recently said "Elwood is the most knowledgeable authority we have in the field of revenue sharing. We look to him for the answers to questions in this complicated program. He has available the answers to questions in this complicated program. Mr. Sundberg has been responsible re-sponsible for bringing considerable consid-erable revenue to Utah County through good, sound investment invest-ment of idle funds. In 1973 the Revenue Sharing fund alone earned over $55,000 in interest. This not only helped strengthened strength-ened the fund, but brought business to our county banks. If re-elcted, Mr. Sundberg pledges to continue his efforts to give the taxpayers responsible respon-sible government at a minimal cost of maintaining low but realistic county tax levy and striving to maintain a workable and balanced budget. |
