Earl Wignall, former Federal Fed-eral Executive, and a resident of Provo, has announced he seeks the Democratic nomination nomin-ation for County Commissioner. Commission-er. This is the seat currently held by Paul A. Thorn, who has announced he will not be a candidate for re-election this fall. Mr. Wignall indicates that he was urged to run for this position by public service minded min-ded people throughout the ! county. He feels that his ap- of service in the U.S. Government, Govern-ment, all of which were in high ! administrative positions, quali fies him for this very important import-ant position, however he is the first to admit that he doesn't know all of the problems of Utah County nor the solutions, ' but feels that by receiving in put from the interested citizens citi-zens that this situation can be substantially alleviated. He believes be-lieves that all citizens should be invited and committed toward to-ward bringing about the most effective public service that can obtain within available resurces and he pledges his talents and service to the citizens citi-zens of Utah County for this worthy objective. Mr. Wignall received his ac- ' admeic training at Brigham Young University and from high level "Management Systems Sys-tems at the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, California, and those provided by the President's Association of the American Management Association. In 1936 Mr. Wignall was one of the principal organizers of the Provo Junior Chamber of Commerce and was elected the first president. The following year he was elected vice president presi-dent of the Utah State Junior Chamber of Commerce. In 1938 Mr. Wignall entered the Federal Service in Washington, Wash-ington, D.C. as an accountant for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Agricul-ture, and his 16 years with that department he served in a number of top leadership positions. posi-tions. In the fall of 1954 Mr. Wignall Wig-nall was recruited by the U.S. Postal Service to serve with a group of top administrative officals to recruit and train officials for the fifteen new Regional Postal Offices. He served ser-ved in varoius high positions in th Postal Service until 1971 when he elected to take a early retirement and return to his native state of Utah. He is an active member of the L.D.S. Church. He has served ser-ved in a Bishopric and High Council in Portland, Oregon and on the High Council in Seattle, Wash. He currently serves as manpower planning and scheduling officer for the Edgemont Sharon East and Edgemont Stakes Welfare Farms. He is a member of the Provo Lions Club and Cougar Club of B.Y.U. Mr. Wignall is married to the former Stella Powelson of Byron, Wyo, and they are the parents of three married daughters. |
