Show Salings Back from Mission Field, To Report Sunday Verland and Wallace Saling returned to their home in PI. Grove July 8 after a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois as guides for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were gone for almost two years. Verland learned the art of spinning wool and flax and demonstrated this in the Times and Seasons building. Wallace handled the grounds work and acted as a missionary and guide. The Salings report the area is growing rapidly. A new visitors visit-ors Center, a tremendous building, buil-ding, was completed and dedicated dedi-cated Sept. 4, 1971 in a very impressive ceremony. In addition addi-tion the following buildings have been completed or nearly so: Wilford Woodruff home, Heber C. Kimball home, Farr House, Jonathan Browning complex, Times and Seasons building, John Taylor home, Brigham Young home, Webb home and blacksmith shop. Nearly complete is the Seventies Sev-enties Hall and work has started start-ed on the Noble-Lucy Mack Smith home. Other work to be completed includes the Snow-er Snow-er homes, shops and outbuild-Ashby outbuild-Ashby duplex and various oth-ings. oth-ings. If you plan on visiting this very historic area, and you really should, allow plenty of time to see the area and get the feeling of what happened here. The Salings will give their "welcome home" report in the Grove Ward sacrament meeting meet-ing this Sunday July 16 at 6:30 p.m. Everybody is cordially invited in-vited to attend. 9 |
