Show Cifiy Council Holds Session Monday The city fathers held their regular city council meeting last Monday night. All members mem-bers were present with Mayor Jack E. Cook presiding. Bill Wood and Keith Fuller were present, representing Prudential Pru-dential Federal Savings & Loan Co. Also present was Kay Robinson, Rob-inson, local contractor. Aspen Engineering Co. representatives representa-tives Clyde Naylor and Bing Christensen. These men had come to the meeting to discuss dis-cuss with the council the problem prob-lem of the survey in the Grove-aire Grove-aire subdivision. As explained to the council, the problem is that new lots are being developed in the subdivision, sub-division, encroaching upon existing ex-isting lots. Mr. Wood stated that in order to correct this situation, the new lots will be reduced in size to allow the existing lot owners their original orig-inal footage. He stated that the engineers will describe the new lots and draw up quit claim deeds which can be executed ex-ecuted by the owners of these lots and solve the boundary problems. This remedy was approved by the council. The matter of curb and gut ter in front of one of these new homes was discussed by those present. The mayor requested that the city and contractor work together to improve the situation. Don Fenton, chairman of the Pleasant Grove Stake Senior Citizens committee met with the council to request a contribution con-tribution by the city toward the annual party to be held in the near future. The council voted to approve this contribution. A. B. Gibson, president of the Pleasant Grove Business Development Corp., and Jay Harmer, vice president, met with the council to inform them of the activity of the industrial in-dustrial group. They requested that the city support them in bringing industry into the community. com-munity. They were given the council's support in their projects pro-jects and proposals. Mayor Cook read a letter from a local businessman who expressed his support for the Tri-City Golf Course. Councilman Council-man Marvin Green reported that the final plans for the golf course have been presented to the Outdoor Bureau of Recreation Rec-reation and that approval of (Continued on page 4) used. Councilman Blackhurst also reported that the garbage gar-bage truck is need of major repairs re-pairs on the engine. The Council Coun-cil authorized him to obtain bids for this work. The council wished to make public record of the assistance of the scouts and scouters in the city in getting the water and sewer bond brochure relative rela-tive to the bond election to the residents of the city. They expressed ex-pressed their appreciation to scouts and scoutmasters who helped in this effort. Mayor Cook reported on the use of the public library. He stated that almost 20,000 books had been loaned from the library li-brary and that over 5,000 of these had been borrowed by adults. The council expressed appreciation to Mrs. Drucilla Smith, city librarian. Mayor Cook requested also that a study be taken of improvements improve-ments needed at the library. Special mention was made of the meeting to be held next Monday evening for the purpose pur-pose of canvassing the election results of the bond election. Councilman Michael Vicch-rilli Vicch-rilli reported that the Sportsman Sports-man Club had extended an invitation in-vitation to the city officials to attend the next gun safety class, which will be held in the new club house. Council members were invited to attend at-tend this meeting and tour the new facilities. The council reviewed the ordinance or-dinance relating to the location of dog kennels in the city. It was agreed that these kennels are allowed only in certain areas of the city. The council authorized Councilman Cornell Haynie to further investigate these locations. Councilman Haynie also recommended rec-ommended that a certain area of the city shops be fenced off for use by the police department depart-ment where they could take impounded vehicles. He was then assigned to investigate this possibility. Councilman Paul Blackhurst stated that the city street marking machine had been overhauled ov-erhauled and was able to be |
