The bride to be is the daughter of Gary and Mary Godfrey of Pleasant Grove. The prospective groom is the son of Paul and Karen Skeen of South Ogden. A reception will honor the newlyweds that same evening from 7 to 9 at "The Point" Huntsman Cancer Institute, 2000 Circle of Hope, Salt Lake City. Attending the bride will be her sister Nicole Godfrey. Best man duties will be performed by brother-in-law Willis Mickles. Honored' guests will be Joseph Godfrey, Edward and Martha Ochs. The bride-to-be is a graduate grad-uate of Pleasant Grove High School and received a bachelor's bach-elor's degree in sociology at Southern Utah University. ' V Thomas to celebrate her 80th birthday Sydney Nicholes Thomas will be celebrating celebrat-ing her 80th birthday on Oct. 29. She was born in 1924 to Howard Wing Nicholes and Hope Hat-ton Hat-ton Nicholes. She was big sister to four brothers, Tracey, Douglas, Frank and Ross Nicholes. She has served relentlessly relent-lessly in her community for many years as the president of the American Ameri-can Fork Art Board. She has spent much of her time serving others, listening and participating participat-ing to make peoples' concerns con-cerns heard at meetings for the betterment of her community and to make things happen. Mrs. Thomas, who lives in American Fork, has been a Jordan District Dis-trict educator for 26 years where she taught second grade at Crescent Elementary. She received her bachelor of science degree from BYU in 1965. She was the president presi-dent of the Jordan Association Associ-ation of Childhood Education Edu-cation International Reading Association. Mrs. Thomas also belongs to and was president presi-dent of Alpha Delta Kappa, a professional education sorority, in 1991. She is also a JEA LDS missionary to speak this Sunday Elder Devin Chad Northrup, son of Lonny and Tammy Northrup of Lindon, has been called to serve in the New Zealand Aukland LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament service Sunday, Sun-day, Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. in the Lindon 6th Ward, 56 E. 600 North, Lindon. Elder Northrup will enter the MTC on Nov. 10. Her family says even though she is still busy serving the community, commu-nity, she continues to enjoy her 20 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 30 great-grandchildren. Sydney's husband, Ernest Miller Thomas passed away on January 18. They have four children: chil-dren: Margaret Wright, Christine Oliver, Ernie "Tom" Thomas and Howard Thomas. With Energizer bunnylike bunny-like energy, Sydney continues to be an example exam-ple to her children and all who know her. She continues to make afghans, dishtowels, pillowcases, pil-lowcases, quilts, blankets, pillows and wall hangings for each of her children and grandchildren. Her family is grateful for the hours she has spent sitting with them on the floor reading books, building houses with Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys and for teaching them how to entertain themselves with the simple things in life, how to be frugal and to love people and be interested in others and about life. ! v Devin Northrup Danielson celebrates 90th birthday Maragaret Danielson is celebrating her 90tn birthday on Oct. 29.
