Show Pleasant Grove Review New Utah! - Wednesday, March 21, 2001 - Page 4 Milestones Jeramie Branin marries Philip and Jaynell Bailey of Milford are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter, Kristen, to Jeramie Branin, the son of Mike and Jill Branin and Dora and Jim Sanders of Pleasant Grove. The couple exchanged vows in the St. George LDS Temple on March 10. The newlyweds will be honored at an open house on March 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Stake Center, 275 E. 500 South. All friends and relatives rela-tives are invited to attend. Allen Strasburg to celebrate 75 years Allen Strasburg will celebrate cele-brate his 75th birthday. His family invites all family and friends to an open house on Saturday, March 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the American Fork Senior Center, 54 E. Main Street. They request no gifts, please. Allen is the youngest of 13 children born to George and Mary Strasburg on March 26, 1926. He grew up and attended schools in Lehi. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Jean Lindsay Feb. 11, 1946. They lived in Mapleton, then moved to Pleasant Grove in 1956, where they resided until Jean's death July 25, 1983. They have four sons and three daughters: Linda, Colleen, Jeff, Mike (Sue), Tim (Michelle) Strasburg, Susan (Garth) Hardinger, Lehi; Lindsay (Sheryl) Strasburg, American Fork. Allen has been a member of the Pleasant Grove Lions Club, Utah Valley Old Car Club, Utah Salt Flat Racers V r Keith Renstrom to celebrate 80th birthday mL. Ja has seven Zl! 4 : I Kristen Bailey Branin Jeramie Branin The bride is a graduate of Milford High School. The groom is a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. The couple will make their first home in Salt Lake City. An open house to honor Keith Renstrom on the occasion of his 80th birthday birth-day will be held on Sunday, March 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at his home, 15 E. 1850 North, Orem. Friends and neighbors are invited to visiting and light refreshments. Keith was raised in Huntsville, the first son of Arnold and Ruby Renstrom. Arnold Renstrom was a Marine in World War I, so Keith, his two brothers and brother-in-law all joined the Marine Corps in World War II and the Korean War. Keith is an Iwo Jima survivor, sur-vivor, lasting 11 days of fierce combat before he was wounded. He also fought on the Marshalls, Saipan and Tinian. He was wounded three times and has a number num-ber of decorations. He was a Gunnery Sergeant for "F" Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Regiment, 4th Marine Division during World War II. During the Korean conflict con-flict he made Master Gunnery Sergeant and was kept at Camp Pendleton training troops for combat. Keith moved back to Utah in 1969 and soon became a theater producer. In 1975, he and his wife, Jody, opened the little Valley Center Playhouse. The couple has produced 10 shows a year for 26 years in their family-oriented community com-munity theater. The Playhouse has moved from its original location in downtown Provo to 780 N. 200 East, Lindon. For all who have been there, Keith is still saying as he welcomes the patrons each night, "Welcome to the Valley Center Playhouse." Their children are: Keith Renstrom, Jr., Stielacoom Wash.; Greg Renstrom and John Renstrom, Pleasant Grove; Leslie Givens, Aurora, 111, Launa Pino, West Valley City; Julie Day, Lehi; and Mike Renstrom, 0lKeith served an LDS mission in Hawaii, called the Central Pacific Mission (to the Japanese). He is an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Temple. i Mk It Keith Renstrom Missionaries to speak Sunday Allen Strasburg Association, where he served as president. He is active in the LDS Church. Allen married Marie Monson Clover on Aug. 30, 1985. They live in American Fork. Marie has one son, Jay, American Fork; and one daughter, Julie, Lehi. They have 13 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 15 great-grandchildren. They enjoy traveling the Western U.S. to support the family race team. They have been on a Caribbean cruise and Alaskan cruise. Allen worked in the automotive auto-motive business, then at the Utah Development Center, retiring in 1988. He continues contin-ues to go to the shop every day to be with his sons in their family business, Strasburg Machine in Lindon. Logan L. Johnson Elder Logan L. Johnson, son of Jerry and Debra Johnson of Lindon, has recently returned from serving in the Texas Houston South LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament sacra-ment service Sunday, March 25, at 12:45 p.m. in the Lindon 1st Ward, 250 W. 600 South (1600 North, Orem). Robert Matthews honored by BYU Shane R. Hardy Elder Shane R. Hardy, son of Joe and Calleen Hardy of Lindon, has been called to serve in the Canada Edmonton LDS Mission. He will speak in a sacrament sacra-ment service Sunday, March 25, at 2:50 p.m. in the Lindon 14th Ward, 25 N. Main. After the meeting, family and friends are invited to visit with Elder Hardy at 35 E. 400 North, Lindon. Elder Hardy will enter the Missionary Training Center on March 28. Lindon resident Robert J. Matthews is among Seven graduates of Brigham Young University who have made a significant difference differ-ence in their communities, states or beyond who were honored Saturday, March 10, with emeritus awards at the annual Emeritus Awards meeting and luncheon lunch-eon in the Wilkinson Student Center ballroom. "Every year we select several graduates of BYU whose service either to their professions, communities or church is exemplary," says Todd Hendricks, alumni activities program administrator. adminis-trator. Matthews analyzed and rigorously compared the Joseph Smith Translation (JST) with the prophet's original work and verified that the RLDS Church, which had the text, had faithfully and exactly published pub-lished the prophet's work. His work pertaining to the JST enabled the inclusion of many vital parts of the JST in the Church of Jesus Christ's publication of the King James version of the Bible. The Lindon resident joined the ancient scripture faculty at BYU in 1971 and spent 17 years as either department chair or dean of Religious Instruction. He received the BYU Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching and Commitment to Adult Students and was awarded the Service to Continuing Education Award. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from BYU. Among Matthew's publications publi-cations is "A Plainer Translation: Joseph Smith's Translation of the Bible."
