Show Obituaries fS New Utah! - Wednesday, March 14, 2001 - Page 8 " : K 1 I-,-, J Clinton Gerber Clinton Irvin Gerber, 84, passed away March 13, 2001, in Lehi, Utah. He was born in Vernal, Utah, on June 12, 1916, to Irvin Moroni and A u r i 1 1 a M c K e e Gerber. He was the oldest old-est of 8 chil- d r e n . Clinton spent his young childhood in Mapleton and at the age of 11 moved with his family to Wellington. He graduated from American Fork High School and attended Brigham Young Academy. His favorite subjects sub-jects were history and Latin and he continued to learn about these subjects throughout his life. He married Ruby Peck on September 15, 1936, in the Manti Temple and they made their first home in Wellington where Clinton farmed with his father and later moved to Lehi where he has lived ever since. Clinton and Ruby were blessed with 9 children. He felt that this family was his greatest accomplishment and he instilled in them a strong sense of family. Clinton worked as a farmer, miner, powder man, and in concrete construction. He has had a life long love of farming and the soil. He was a poet and left a legacy in words for his posterity. He was well read and loved Earl Nephi Avis Earl Nephi Avis, 67, died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with ALS. Earl was born April 8, 1933, in Salt Lake City to James Lester and Alice Gledhill Avis. He married Sharon Rose Webb Jan. 5, 1955. They were later divorced. He married Dorothy Lou Jensen Oct. 3, 1964. They were later divorced. He married Alice Goates Watts on Aug. 17, 1995. Earl graduated from South High School and served in the U.S. Navy during dur-ing the Korean War. He served as a Salt Lake City police officer for 25 years, and then with the U.S. Marshal's service. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. He loved rides with his wife and friends, family gatherings, vacations, gardening, gar-dening, and ballroom dancing danc-ing at the Apollo Hall and Murray Arts Center. He had a great love for his family and will be greatly great-ly missed. Earl is survived by his wife; sons, Dan (Kelly) and Rod (Stephanie); daughters, Karree Bradford, Janet, Laura, Lynie (Daniel) Fraga; brother, Kenneth (Deanna); sisters, Alice (Tommy) Smith; Jean Bittler, Lillian (Eckhardt) Prawitt; Pauline (Curt) Hood; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Joseph, and infant son, David. Funeral services will be held at the Country Club Chapel, 5212 W. Country Club Drive, Highland, on March 17, 2001, at noon. Friends and family may call at Lake Hills Memorial Park, 10055 S. State, Sandy, Friday, March 16, between 6 and 8 p.m., and at the church on Saturday between 10:30 and 11:45 prior to services. Death notice Harry Donald Clark ! Harry Donald Clark passed away on Dec. 19, 2000, from complications from surgery. He was 70 years of age. Born on Oct. 15, 1930 in Alden, Iowa, to Kerry Lynn Fowler learning about almost any subject. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints and served in various callings throughout his life. His favorite calling call-ing was to teach the gospel doctrine class. He is survived by his 9 children; Russell (Joan), Highland; Deanna (Gene) Webb, Flagstaff, AZ.; Max (Jeri), Draper; Allen (Tori), Alpine; and Preston (Cleneyl), Doris (Lee) Woffinden, Sherri (Bob) Cook, Scott (Signe), David (Jan), all of Lehi; 39 living grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mabel (Owen) Davis and Elma Golding; a brother, Lloyd (Betty) Gerber. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby; two grandsons and four brothers. He lived a good life. He did not win worldly honors but he won the love of his family and the respect of men. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 17, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi First Ward Chapel, 200 S. 200 W, Lehi. Friends may call Friday evening 6-8 p.m. in the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Kerry Lynn Fowler passed away Feb. 18, 2001. He was born to Kent and Colleen Fowler of Lehi on Nov. 30, 1954, in American Fork. He from Lehi High School in 1973. Kerry began racing motorcycles when he was just a youngster. He was exceptionally talented and won many Motorcross events under the sponsor-" ship of Honda and Bultaco. His racing career was long and distinguished. distin-guished. He placed first in the nation among desert racers over 30. Best of all, Kerry loved the out-of-doors. He loved the coastal waters of Mexico, the vast Alaskan tundra and particularly, he loved the mountains and deserts of Utah. Kerry was a hunter and fisherman, but those pursuits pur-suits were only a small part of his love for the wilderness. r Kerry was most happy when he was part of the landscape; watching hawks, search- .Unonc iinu inc tor arruwuc-:, sometimes just sitting on the porch with his dog, "Bismark," taking an the night sky. , Kerry' had a great capacity for joy but his life was touched by a great sorrow as well. He lost his younger brother, Mike his little sister, Libby and two nephews, Alex and Kolton. We who' are left behind will always carry him in our hearts: Parents Kent and Colleen, who Kerry loved more than anyone. Sister and brother-in-law Necia and Kent, whose loving and courageous coura-geous search efforts were beyond belief. Wife Bambi, who has lost her best friend. Adored nieces and nephews Tosha, Colby, Skyler; Tanner, Jeremy, Kassy, Kambrin, Jerica, who have lost their uncle "Ker." Julie a special love of Kerry's. Memorial services were held Saturday, March 10, in the Lehi 9th Ward Chapel. The Fowlers would like to thank everyone who helped in the search and rescue, the food, the flowers, flow-ers, and everyone's prayers. She married mar-ried Eugene . Edward Crofts November , 10, 1931 in Brigham City, Utah. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1958. Ora received her schooling school-ing in Salem, Utah and Burley, Idaho. She went to nursing school at the Trade Tech in Provo after her husband passed away. She worked in the maternity mater-nity ward at Payson Hospital for many years. Ora was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in the Primary as a teacher and in the presidency, presi-dency, and also in the Young Women's organization organiza-tion as a teacher. Ora enjoyed knitting fancy sweaters, painting with oils, crocheting, work ing with plastic canvas, planting flowers, and working in her yard. She enjoyed people and always had a cheerful greeting for them. . Ora is survived by three sons, Duaine (Ida) Crofts, American Fork, UT, Marvin (Marjorie) Crofts, Duchesne, UT, Stephen (Jenine) Crofts, Duchesne, UT, one daughter, Bonnie Bennett, Alpine, AZ, one daughter-in-law, Melvina, ,:, Delta, UT; 22 grandchildren, grandchil-dren, 76 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-greatgrandchildren. She was born February 28, 1905, in Payson, Utah, to George Barton Moore and Alcesta Adelia Lewis Moore. She married Louis Neldon Birk of American Fork October 5, 1922, in Provo. Following the death of her husband in 1949, she managed Mary Jean's, a ladies specialty clothing shop in American Fork, until retiring in 1980. Her daughter, Betty, died in 1981. Survivors are sons Jack Neldon (Sally) Birk, Duluth, MN; Robert Alan (Margaret) Birk, Belvedore CA; daughter, Shirley (James) Zenith. PAF classes to begin Tuesday Two six-week classes that teach on the newest version of Personal Ancestral File (PAF) and FamilySearch Internet computer com-puter programs will be held beginning March 20 at Lehi High School. The classes will be taught by Lynella A Shock, and individuals can register by calling UVSC Community Education at 227-2448 or 227-2449. Students can also register the first day of classes. A beginning class will be held starting at 3:30 p.m., and an intermediate class will begin that same day at 5:30 p.m. Both classes are in Room 1 at Lehi High School. The hour-and-a-half classes will be held once a week on Tuesday. In the beginning class; students will learn how to download and install PAP, how to start, how to set up program preferences for their files, multimedia and. printing. The intermediate class will focus on importing information into working files; how to identify and resolve possible problems, how to print charts, reports and lists; and how to export files.
