Show r New Utah! - Wednesday, July 7, 2000 - Page 10 Curves for Women opens Lehi gym Hello Worl By Tina Chadwick Curves for Women is spreading spread-ing across the nation and Canada. "Curves has the first 30 minute total workout. Their Quickfit exercise system, utilizes uti-lizes a series of hydraulic exercise exer-cise machines alternating with aerobic recovery stations. This unique system allows for both aerobic and strength training exercises to be accomplished at the same time." is noted in a press release. Patrons at Curves work as hard as they can on an exercise exer-cise machine for 35 seconds and then recover for 35 seconds sec-onds on a running board. Then they switch. It is known as Circuit Training. The machines work the legs, arms, torso, inner and outer thighs, every part of your body. It is a complete workout. According to founder, Gary Heavin, "Strength training has been the missing ingredient in women's weight loss efforts. In the past women dieted, walked or maybe did aerobics. Up to 40 of their weight loss was muscle. By losing muscle, the engines of the body, they lowered low-ered their metabolism so drastically, dras-tically, that they always gained their weight back. Strength training protects and even increases muscle tissue, while you lose body fat." Cyndie Burr, is the owner of the new Lehi franchise and has been involved in fitness for years. "You can only do aerobics aero-bics for so long." She thought Curves had a great program and was sold on it. Her husband hus-band Brad, who is a police officer offi-cer in Provo thought so too. Curves of Lehi has been open for over 18 months and women have seen results. "Curves has made a huge difference dif-ference in my life. I have tons more energy and don't have to deal with depression anymore! Plus their weight loss program addressed my hormone imbalance, imbal-ance, so I've lost almost 30 pounds my first 3 months which is a miracle!" says Debbie Carroll. Cori Peacock is happy with the convenience, "I joined Curves 15 months ago. I enjoy losing weight and working out on their program. It is so convenient, con-venient, no class schedules to meet, come as you can. It really real-ly is great!" For a free guest visit, call 768-4855.
