FugaJ married his love, Lima Widdkon of Hooper, in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 8. 1949; and raised six children: Jens, Pamela, Deborah, Robert, Amy and Jared. They have 35 grandchildren and 21 great Summer t Jhese are some of the I alut living in north U the summer: Marward Farms corn. After a late spring, we just started to see piles of corn on the cob appearing at the familiar green stands, and not a moment too soon. On the way home from work I pick up some ears, call Sharon and tell her to get the water boiling. We eat corn on the cob almost every evening from the day the stands open until the day they back up the truck and haul the trailers away. Home-grown tomatoes: This is the only plant besides grass that I can grow. I killed this year's zucchini zuc-chini plant, believe it or not. But the tomatoes are irresistible. So far, only a few cherry tomatoes toma-toes have ripened, and Sharon has eaten all of those. It won't be Jong, though, City celebrations: It's been a great summer for these. We took our granddaughter to Lehi's all-horse parade so she could see lots of ponies, ate strawberries and cream at Pleasant Grove (l skipped the cream the man at the booth said they called that a "virgin"), and joined in the water gun fight at the Saratoga Splash, Saturday night, for the first time in years, we went to the Steel Days Big Show to see the "Beatles" and watch the fireworks. We camped out at Art Dye Park with several hundred of our closest friends to enjoy the show. Everywhere Every-where we turned, we saw people we knew. The Return, the Beatles tribute band hired by American Fork to headline the show, had kids, and even us older folks, dancing in the grass. The fireworks were spectacular. Today we will probably spend at least part of the day in Cedar fort enjoying their short but fun parade and letting the grandkids participate partici-pate in the games. The best part of all these events is everyone is welcome everywhere. Summer movies: There is no better way to spend a hot night than in a cool movie theater, especially when the good summer movies arrive ar-rive at the local theater. There are so many INVOLVED grandchildren with another on tin way. And next week, the new X'iles movie will open, . Assigned seats at summer movies (see above): Gone are the days of arriving at new movies hours before the show starts, now that selected theaters let you buy your seat weeks in advance. The only problem is jerks who arrive late ana climb over you to get to their seats during the opening scenes. Then there was that lady who sat just in front of me and kept texting throughout the movie. Don't people understand that the visual distraction of a cell phone display is just as annoying annoy-ing as someone talking during a film? I was going to throw some popcorn at her, but her three large wmpanions made me rethink that plan. Water gun fights witfa the grandkidt: For reasons rea-sons I don't understand, my wife loves to see me get drenched. So when the grandchildren visit, she loads up the water guns and arms all the children and then aims them in my direction. direc-tion. She even buys special water guns that the 3-year-olds can easily operate, and she puts super su-per squirt ers in the hands of the 8- and 9-year-olds. They all think it's fun to squirt the old guy-Air guy-Air conditioning: It might surprise some readers, but when we bought our home about 20 years ago, air conditioning was a luxury. It didn't come standard in many homes, and when they built our house, the contractors didn't even include a furnace with a blower large enough to accommodate air wncUtioning if we wanted to add M later, A lot of older homes are still like that. Last fall we took the time and trouble to have our home equipped with air condrtwning. ft was either that or buy a new home, and this was cheaper. And it's been our best summer ever. We never want to step outside. That's another thing I kwe about summer in north Utah County: Gunthers Comfort Air. Celebration Continued from I'ugu pule in the 12 and younger category.
