Ivins to Run for Uf ah County Assessor Guy H. Ivins, 182 North Fifth East, American Fork, today announced an-nounced his candidacy for reelection re-election as Utah County Assessor on theDemocraUc ticket Mr. Ivins was elected to his present post In the fall of 1958. Since that time he has made many Improvements in the Assessor's Ass-essor's office, Including the introduction in-troduction of the county "License ' by-Mall" program. The program was first started by Mr. Ivins In 1960 to facilitate the handling of more than 15,000 plates, processed annually in the county by the assessor'a office. ' Previous to the enactment of the man program, long lines of vehicle owners waiting to pay their taxes and receive their license plates were an annual ooourance in the City and County building in Provo. Now, the long lines are gone, and only a small percentage of truck and auto owners are requuired to go to the .City and County building for their plates. More than 90 per cent of the auto owners in the county are offered the opportunity opportun-ity to obtain their plates by mail. "The program," a&id Mr. Ivins, "has been a tremendous success. It has saved the taxpayers of Utah Ut-ah County considerable time and money, to say nothing of the convenience." con-venience." Mr. Ivins was born in 1927 and received his early schooling in Provo. He graduated from Mur-. ray High School and fiom Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
