Show Woman Dies Following Crash Mrs. Bertha Gadd Nuttall 48 of Provo, suffered fatal injuries in' an automobile accident at Pleasant Grove late Thursday night and a number of others were injured Mrs Nuttall died in the local hospital, on hour following the accident Poor vlsabillty and a slippery condition con-dition of the highway were held as being principally responsible for the accident, which occurred when the car driven by George W. Nuttall husband of the victim, crashed with an automobile driven by Leland Wright, 18, of American Fork, according ac-cording to the investigating 'officers. 'offi-cers. The cars collided near the Union Pacific railroad crossing west of town at 11:15 p. m. Pour persons were riding in the automobile driven by Mr. Wright and five other occupants of the Nuttall car received minor injuries. Mrs. Nuttall was taken to a home near the highway shortly after the accident, and was later taken to the Lehi hospital where she passed away an hour later of a crushed chest, fractured right collarbone, fractured ;eg and severe cuts. So far as could be determined both automobiles skidded on the slippery pavement and crashed head-on. Riding with Wright, traveling toward to-ward American Fork, were Perron Goode, 17, American Fork; Jean Loader, 17, Pleasant Grove and Madge Okey, 18, of Lehi. Wright and the two girls suffered cuts and bruises. Miss Okey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Okey of Lehi. Mr. and Mrs. Nuttall, their three children, Ida, 17, Verl, 13, and Carl, 11, and George Strebel, 24, Provo, were riding in the other car. Having said goodbye to their son, Dean Nuttall, who boarded a train at Salt Lake City. Thursday evening, bound for the Holland L. D. S. mis- sion, the Nuttalls were returning to their home in Provo. Dean Nuttall was called back home after having been informed by church authorities author-ities of the death of his mother. |
