Peterson wish to thank the many friends and relatives who assisted in many acts of love during our beloved mother's illness and passing. Eldonna, Max & Blake Viklund Janet and Arnell Peterson and boys Penny and Wesley Peterson and boys Ruth Ivie Ruth Ashby Ivie, 80, died Aug. 26, 1984, at her home in Orem of natural causes. She was born March 7, 1904, in American Fork to Robert L. and Hannah Han-nah Cropper Ashby. She married Horace Leon Ivie June 9, 1926, in the Manti LDS Temple. He died May 5, 1974. Mrs. Ivie was a homemaker and a teacher. She graduated from Brigham Young University. She lived in Orem,- American Fork and Ogden, Utah; Walla Walla, Wash. and Arlington, Va. She has served as a judge at county elections. She also served on several committees dealing with the problems of exceptional children. She was a member of the LDS Church and served as Primary president for 15 years. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, Dr. Evan L. Ivie, Provo; Alma Ray Ivie, Orem; Mrs. E. Gene (Joy) Wade and Carolann R. Ivie, both of Mesa, Ariz; 23 grandchildren; grand-children; eight great grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters, William C. Ashby, Chattanooga, Tenn.; Dr. Armis J. Ashby, Salt Lake City; Dr. Richard L. Ashby, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. J. Theodore (Lucretia) Arbon, Mrs. E. Wesley (Mary) Porter, Mrs. Sanford M. (Eda) Bingham, all of Provo; and Mrs. Sherman S. (Bonna) Brinton, Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 1, in the Orem South Stake Center. Interment was in the American Fork City Cemetery. Lake City; Carol C. Cook and Hoover W. Clark, Provo; 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a sister and brother: Sylvia S. Pulley, American Fork; Willis E. Shipley, Laguna Hills, Calif. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove, where friends may call Thursday, 7-9 p.m., or Friday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Grove. In 1945 she and her family moved to Provo. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in positions in all the auxiliaries as a teacher, organist, Relief Society president, MIA president and seminary teacher. Sept. 3, 1984 at Zh Valley Regional Medical Center, Prova fci; she was born April 15, to 1899 in American Fork Uillard J. and Sylvia h. Bromley Shipley. She married Hyrum Win- ijeid Clark, June 16, k 10 in the Salt Lake U)S Temple. He died tf. Roberts, 73, of Arvada, Colo., died Thursday, Aug. 30, 1984, in Wheat Ridge, Colo. She was born Oct. 15, 1910 in Bradshaw, Neb., to Lloyd and Nellie Noffsinger. She married Carl Roberts. He later died. Survivors include two sons, Goerge Kelly, Arvada, Colo.; Harold Roberts', Fort Lupton, Colo.; and two grandchildren. grand-children. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. LeRoy Francis Nielsen, 75, died Friday, Aug. 31, 1984, in Bullhead City, Ariz. He was born March 3, :,9i 1909, to Niels and Hannah Thornton Nielsen. He married Ora Posey on Aug. 3, 1927 in Idaho. He was a sis weider for Strong J has Construction Co. for several years. He was a S1! mechanic for Crystal Truckling Co. of Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his wife; a son and a daughter, LaMar Nielsen of Stanton, Calif.; - Mrs. Myron (Una) Crystal, Pleasant Grove; eight grandchildren; grand-children; 11 great grandchildren; two iiisir n Carl LeRoy Backlund, 68, of Pleasant Grove, died Tuesday, August 28, 1984 at his home. He was born Feb. 2, 1916 in San Diego, Calif., a son of John and Maria Johanna Carlson Backlund. He married Louise Walker, June 18, 1939 in Long Beach, Calif. The marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. She passed away on July 5, 1974. He married Joyce Chryst Johnson on Sept. 3, 1976 in Pleasant Grove. He spent his life in San Diego, Richmond, Lomita, Torrance and San Pedro, Calif., before moving to Pleasant Grove in 1975. He was an active -member of ; the - LDS Church, serving in two bishoprics, on a High Council and in various church callings. He was currently a High Priest in the Manila Fourth. He and his wife, Joyce, served an LDS Mission in North Carolina. He had a long career in Torrance, Calif, with the U.S. Post Office and , retired as postmaster in 1974. He was active in Services were Friday, August 31, in the Manila Stake Center. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Bishop R. John Goodman of the Manila Fourth Ward. Pallbearers were John Backlund, Joe Langeveld, Kent Zirker, LeRoy Lutes, Glen Pack, Vernon Johnson, Kevin Johnson and Deron Johnson. The family prayer was given by Glen Pack. The prelude and postlude were played by Kathleen Adams. The invocation was by Kenneth Nickell. The life sketch was given by Joe Langeveld. Susan Haycock and Bob Monson sang "Love at Home," accompanied ' by " Kathleen 'Adams r The speaker was Max Blackham and remarks were given by Bishop Goodman. Backlund, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; a son, John Carl Backlund, Pleasant Grove; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Linda Jean) Langeveld of Roy; Mrs. Kent ' vMarttia" 'Louise)' Zirker of Warden Wash.; three stepsons and two stepdaughters, Vernon Elden Johnson, Salt Lake City; Kevin Richard Johnson, Orem ; Deron Bradley Johnson and Mrs. Leroy (Sherry Lynn) Lutes, Mrs. Glen (Renee) Pack, all of Pleasant Grove; 15 grandchildren; grand-children; 19 step-grandchildren. J RevaAhman Reva Josephine West Ahman, 82, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 1984, in a Pleasant Grove care center following a long illness. I She was born Jan. 23, i 1902, in Pleasant Grove I to Nathaniel and Josephine Dickerson West. She married Vernon Jasper Ahman Nov. 21, 1945 in Evanston, Wyo. The marriage was later "solemnized in the Salt" Lake IDS Temple. She was a school t teacher for more than 30 years, was active in music all her life, including in-cluding singing and j playing the piano and j organ. She was church j organist for several years. She is survived by her husband of Pleasant ' Grove; one daughter: Mrs. Robert i) (Marianne) Baker, Mountain Home, Idaho; 'ive grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Brian F. West, Provo; I Eleroy R. West, Pleasant Grove; Vance M. West, Pleasant Grove; and Geneva Warnick, Pleasant Grove. Services were Saturday in the Grove Ward Chapel. Services were under the direction of Bishop Frank Mills of the Pleasant Grove Fifth Ward. Pallbearers were David Warnick, Eleroy H. West, Lee Brown, R. Dean Peterson, Bryce R. Baker, Robert C. Baker. Honorary pallbearers were Burke J. Baker and Blake A. Baker. The family prayer the dedication of the grave was by Robert C. Baker. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. |
