Show s. ; - ' , i f v, ' C-v '? J n- - , X - Openhouse Will Honor Couple On 50th Wedding Anniversary The Golden Wedding day, fifty years of marriage, will be reached by Mr. and Mrs. D. W. West on Tuesday, March 23, 1954. Married in the Salt Lake Temple Tem-ple in 1904, this couple have worked work-ed diligently to uphold the teachings teach-ings of their church. They have taught the principles of the Latter-day Latter-day Saint religion to their children both by word and deed. David Waldemer West was born in Pleasant Grove, Jan. 13, 1874. He is the son of Charles Henry and Claudina Alsefeldt Daurvigen West. Elva Vilate Adams West was born in Fountain Green on March 28, 1882. She is the daughter of William and Melissa Jane Caldwell Cald-well Adams. After their marriage, the couple lived the first year in Bingham Canyon, then returned to Pleasant Grove. They lived in East Garland for four years, 1914 to 1918, when they bought the home where they now live. Mr. West has been a farmer most of his life. He would buy loads of fruit and haul it by wagon as far as Bingham Canyon before trucks were used in this part of the country. Mr. West is a High Priest in the Latter-day Saints church, and has acted as a visiting teacher. Mrs. West has taken an active part in the church, having taught in many of the organizations. She has been group organist, especially in Relief Society, where she also participated with the Singing Mothers and was a visiting teacher teach-er for many years. She has worked in genealogy, doing home teaching teach-ing in record gathering. She has been registrar and organist for the Timpanogos Camp of Daughters Daugh-ters of Utah Pioneers. All nine children of the Wests are living to pay honor to their parents on this occasion. They are Ross West, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Earl (Ruby) Hawkins, Provo; Mrs. Morgan (Thelma) Boley, Ogden; Og-den; Mrs. Clarence (LaVarda) Hurst, Mrs. Wells (Nellie) Sanders, Sand-ers, Burt and Harvard West, all of Salt Lake City; Mrs. William (Madge) Tatum, recently moved to San Francisco and Byron, who is now serving in the mission field located in Oklahoma City. There are 31 grandchildren. An openhouse honoring the couple is being planned for March 28. |
