Show Wedding Costs formal wedding costs today average about $4,350 but can go as high as $10,000 to $15,000 in some urban areas, according to Helen Johnson, editor of Bride's Magazine. Because of cost and changing attitudes toward the nature of marriage, there's a trend toward the bride's and the groom's families sharing the cost, Johnson says. A bride s parents are no longer considered con-sidered to be "marrying off" their daughter, she says. Instead, the wedding is seen as the joining of two people. Dividing up costs can be done several ways. One method the magazine suggests involves settling on specific expenses in advance instead of splitting the entire cost down the middle. |
