The perfect per-fect weather seemed to break open the Viking hitting hit-ting woes as the majority of the Pleasant Grove batters were at the least making solid contact with the ball through two innings of play. After falling behind 0-1 in the top half of the first inning, Pleasant Grove opened with a Wimer walk and Alex Iorg reached base thanks to a fielder's choice. With two men on base, Jordan Jor-dan Smith stepped to the plate and blasted a three-run three-run home run over the left-field left-field fence. With a two-run lead and a new sense of confidence, Pleasant Grove looked ready to pull the upset over the T-Wolves. An Austin Christensen double in the second inning drove in the Vikings' fourth run of the game, and Pleasant Grove seemed to be riding a wave of momentum. However, that same wave began to crash down on the Vikings in the fourth inning. Timpanogos chipped away at the three-run deficit with a run in the third inning, and evened the score in the fourth inning thanks to two more runs. Then the flood gates opened up on the Pleasant Grove pitching staff and the T-Wolves began to pepper the field with hits. Five runs in the fifth inning spelled the third pitching change of the game. A solid sixth inning appeared to have stopped the bleeding, but the seventh inning turned out to be a disaster. Trailing 4-9, Pleasant Grove hoped to give themselves them-selves one final chance at a j Call Today! Instead, Timpanogos exploded for 11 runs and a score that resembled a football foot-ball game at 20 runs. The Vikings cut their losses in the bottom of the inning and headed for home with a look on their faces like a hurricane had just struck. They will have little time to think about the Monday afternoon disaster as Tuesday Tues-day marked the beginning of the second round of region games. Tuesday's game at Mountain Moun-tain View was just the start for the Vikings as they left yesterday for the annual Gael Easter Classic in Las Vegas. At least four games in the desert will await Pleasant Grove against many of the West's best baseball teams. Monday afternoon the Vikings will travel to Olympus Olym-pus for a non-region game. Tuesday Orem will pay a visit to Hoover Field as the region schedule resumes.
