She began her college studies in business management. "I was going to be a banker," she said. After serving an LDS mission to Guatemala, Sumner was hired as a tutor for an English Eng-lish as a Second Language program. After watching the ease at with she related to and interacted with the children, chil-dren, the teachers convinced con-vinced Sumner to pursue a degree in education and to become a teacher. "The teachers brainwashed brain-washed me," laughed Sumner. Sumn-er. Sumner enjoys working with the children at the library. She organized the activities for the library's "Clifford Night" during Children's Book Week last fall. When a translator for Spanish is needed at the library, Sumner is occasionally occasion-ally called to help. Her love of people and knowledge of Spanish makes her able to assist many of the library's Hispanic His-panic patrons. "She adds so much to our library, she just has a spark," said April Harrison, library director. "She's extremely talented and creative cre-ative with children, and has the type of personality that keeps us happy all the time." I love books, the ladies who work here are great," she said. When not involved in school or work, Emily enjoys traveling and being outdoors.
