AFH opens angiography suite American Fork Hospital this week began taking patients in the newly expanded radiology department. depart-ment. The new South Wing houses an MRI unit and an angiography suite, making many procedures available to the residents of north Utah County which were not possible previously. The MRI unit is a 1-5T TwinSpeed system from GE Medical Systems, and is described as the newest technology in imaging. It is known for its image quality, high speed and versatility for a wide range of diagnostic diagnos-tic studies, officials said, and brings imaging services at American Fork Hospital to a new level, allowing physicians to perform routine rou-tine clinical applications as well as high-performance studies such as stroke assessment and cardiac imaging. Two of its best features keep the patient in mind an expanded opening accommodates larger patients and may make exams more comfortable for claustrophobic patients. Acoustic noise has also been reduced by 40 percent. The Siemens Multistar Plus system angiographic equipment provides fast, reliable and highly diagnostic diagnos-tic procedures including cerebral, abdominal, and leg arteriography, balloon angioplasty. and stent placement as well as arm and leg venography. Some non-vascular procedures includes -kidney.- stone removal and biliary drainage due to obstruction. "We are excited to have the services of a MRI unit and angiography suite at American Fork Hospital," said Keith Alexander, hospital hospi-tal administrator. "New technology and services such as these will allow us to increase the level of care we are able to offer to the families in our growing community."
