V- 1 A 1 H r Members of the Swedish Women's Ice Hockey team show off their bronze medals after their Olympic victory. Swedish women's hockey wins bronze By Linda Butler As a "sister city" to Sweden during the Olympics, Pleasant Grove residents had many opportunities oppor-tunities to learn about Sweden and lend support to the Swedish athletes. A highlight for both athletes ath-letes and many Pleasant Grove residents was the visit of the Swedish Women's Ice Hockey Team. The women visited two schools and explained and demonstrated their sport. The city treated the athletes ath-letes to a wonderful dinner at the High School. Before the team played against Canada, roses were sent to the athletes, a gift of support sup-port and encouragement from the residents of Pleasant Grove. The support from Pleasant Grove students and residents made the girls feel like celebrities. "You've made fans everywhere," every-where," Team Host Susan Westover explained to the athletes as the excitement and attention increased during their visits. Team hosts, Susan Westover and Donna Knudsen recently shared a message of thanks from the Swedish women's team for Pleasant Grove's support. They said that the "day the team spent in Pleasant Grove was a highlight." "The girls also loved the roses sent to them," wrote Westover and Knudsen. "All of your support helped this underdog team overcome many obstacles and win a bronze medal!" iv, 1 I City 3 planning commission i K'nt 7 n m nt the I inrlnn Cihi Sttn 100 N.
