Show Funeral Rites for David W. West Held Last Friday Deeply impressive funeral rites were conducted Friday, February 14, for David Waldemar West, 87, who died Tuesday at his home of a heart ailment. The services opened open-ed at 1 p.m. in the First-Fifth Ward Chapel, with Joseph Bever-idge Bever-idge of the First ward bishopric in charge. Family prayer at the mortuary had been offered by Lorin West. The servioe in the chapel opened with a vocal duet "Sometime We'll Understand" by JoAnn Brady and Jeanne Walker, accompanied by Vivian Faddis. Invocation was offered by Thos. Fenton. A. vocal duet "In the Garden," Gar-den," was sung by Sadie Beck and Ladocia Wagstaff, accompanied by Lillie Beck. Life shetch of the deceased de-ceased was read by Mrs. Ross West, a daughter in law. Speakers were Earl Hawkins, a son-in-law, and Burton H. Adams, a brother-in-iaw. Both paid tribute to Mr. West and his family and told of his industry, his hard work to maintain a large family and sincerity sin-cerity of what he believed. Interspersing the speakers was a vocal number, "The Lord's Prayer" by Richard Shafer, accompanied accom-panied by Gerald Boley. The closing number was a duet by JoAnn Brady and Jeanne Walker, Walk-er, accompanied by Mrs. Faddis, I Know That My Redeemer Lives. Mrs. Ray Fenton played prelude and postlude organ music. Benediction Bene-diction was pronounced by Elvin Thorne. Interment was made in the PI. Grove City Cemetery, where Wm. H. Adams offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers all gTandsons were Roland West, Gordon Hawkins, Larry Hurst, Grant Sanders, Eugene Eug-ene West and Gerald Boley. Flowers were arranged and cared car-ed for by the First Ward Relief Society. |
