Show Funeral Is Held Wednesday for Mrs. Walker Impressive funeral rites were conducted Wednesday at 1 p. m. in the Second ward chapel for Mathilda Bullock Walker, wife of Wm. Walker, who died in a Provo hospital Saturday evening, after a long illness. Bishop E. M. Williams was in charge. The opening number "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling" was sung by S. W. Hilton and Elwood Allen. Invocation was offered by Paul Christofferson of the bishopric. First speaker was Ruben Fair-borne, Fair-borne, a life-long friend of Mrs. Walker and her family. Mr. Fair-borne Fair-borne paid tribute to the Bullock family; their hard work, struggles, and thrift, all of which made noble men and women. Former Bishop Reed O. Walker, told of the love and congenial home life that existed exist-ed in his brothers family and then based his talk upon the text Behold Be-hold it is my work and mj glory to bring about the eternal life of man. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers were: a ladies trio, "Teach Me To Pray" by Mrs. J. E. Hardman, Mrs. Lee Beers, and Mrs. Glade Bullock; a vocal duet, "Hold Thou My Hand" by Mrs. Hilton and Mr. Allen. Closing remarks expressing sympathy and appreciation were made by Bishop Williams. The final number "In The Garden" Gar-den" was sung by the ladies trio. Miss Beverly Wright accompanied all numbers and also played prelude pre-lude and postlude organ music. Benediction was pronounced by Reed Peterson of the bishopric. Interment directed by Olpin Mortuary, took place in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City Cemetery. Edwin Danklef, a neighbor, offered the dedicatorial prayer. Second ward Relief Society cared for the floral offerings. Mrs. Walker, a member of the church, and active Relief Society visiting teacher, was born July 31, 1900, in Murray, a daughter of C. H. and Nellie Osborne Bullock. She attended schools in Draper. On Nov. 20, 1922, she married William J. Walker and they moved mov-ed to Pleasant Grove where they have resided since. Her husband survives, along with three sons, Norman, Dale and Paul Walker, all of Pleasant Grove; one grandchild, and several sever-al brothers and sisters. |
