Show Funeral Services Are Held For Lawrence H. West Impressive funeral services for Lawrence H. West were conducted Saturday in the Second ward L. D. S. Chapel at 1 p. m. Bishop E. M. Williams was in charge, with the American Legion also participating. parti-cipating. The ward choir, directed by F. M. Paulson, accompanied by Mrs. Grant Judd, piano, and Miss Beverly Bev-erly Wright, organ, sang the opening open-ing number "The Lord is My Shepherd." Wesley Jense offered the invocation. Speakers who paid tribute to the life and work of Mr. West and also to his family for their devotion devot-ion to him, during his many years of illness were all former bishops of the Second ward, Reed O. Walker, C. R. Clark and B. H. Adams.. Mr. Clark also gave a sketch of the life of Mr. West.' Musical numbers interspersing the speakers were a vocal solo "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine," by Warren P. Kirk, accompanied accom-panied by Beverly Wright; and a vocal duet, "Lay My Head Beneath Be-neath a Rose," by Mrs. S. W. Hilton and Elwood Allen, also accompanied ac-companied by Miss Wright. Closing talk expressing sympathy sympa-thy and appreciation was made by Bishop Williams, after which the choir sang, "God Bless You and Keep You." Benediction was pronounced by George Bone. Interment directed by Olpin Mortuary was made in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove City Cemetery, where military honors were conducted by the American Legion, Post No. 70. Chaplain S. W. Hilton offered of-fered the dedicatorial prayer. The large American flag was present-, ed to Mr. West's widow. The firing fir-ing squad included Mack Ostergaard, Oster-gaard, Robert Holdaway, Milton Adamson, and Max Harper. Pallbearers Pall-bearers also Legionnaires were Glen Matthews, A. B. Gibson, Lloyd Gray, Don Mack Dalton, win Jensen and Arnold Henrich-son. Henrich-son. Taps were sounded by Owen Ash. Flowers were cared for by the Second ward Relief Society. |
