Show Impressive Rites Pay Tribute To Nona Kirk Baxter Impressive funeral services for Nana Kirk Baxter, 39, who died at her home in Orem Sunday, following follow-ing an extended illness of heart trouble, were held in the Windsor ward chapel, Wednesday, October 23, under the direction of Bishop Stanley Harris. The services with Elden Swenson of the bishopric presiding, opened with a song "I Know That My Redeemer Re-deemer Lives," by the Windsor ward choir, followed 'by the invocation invo-cation by A. H. Lowe. Other musical numbers were a duet by Mr. Earl Hill and Mrs. Vinnie Sandstrom of Magna; a violin vio-lin solo by Miss LaVerl Neves, accompanied ac-companied by her mother, Mrs. Mary Neves; a solo hy Reed Hales; a selection by the Vineyard quartet, quar-tet, and a concluding song by the choir. Mrs. Hazel Marrott, with whom Mrs. Baxter had been associated in the presiding of the Relief society, paid a personal tribute to her. She also gave a sketch telling the highlights high-lights of her life, her marriage to Elwood Baxter, her service in the Primary organization where she was a counselor, and in the Relief society. Patriarch David B. Thome spoke of his association with Mrs. Baxter when she was a clerk in Cullimore's store, her willingness to serve, and to obey higher -authority. William Greenwood of Ogden, an uncle, spoke of his association with the family of the deceased and of his pride in being numbered with them. President W. "W. Warnick of Tim-panogos Tim-panogos stake, dwelt on Mrs. Baxter's Bax-ter's womanly character, her lovely voice whose singing had brought pleasure to many people, and her sincere adherence to the principles of the gospel. He also commented on how effectively she had trained her children with correct principles to go on without her. Bishop Harris in closing told of the loss which her passing would mean to the ward, since she had been always ready to sing, individually individ-ually or with the choir, and had been willing to serve faithfully in any of the organizations or wherever wher-ever her services were needed. He also expressed his connection of the certainty of a life after this. o |
