E ; sillbei!ft!- Donald Varley Somers, 65, died July 8, 1984. He was born July 30, 1918, in Oak City, Utah, to Lewis Andrew and Clara K. Roper Somers. He married Margaret Rathbun Aug. 24, 1940, in Canyon City, Colo, the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a barber for 26 years and served as president of the 1 Utah Barbers Association. He was secretary of the association at the time of his death. He was a member of the American Fork 9th LDS Ward, a former Elders Quorum president, ward executive secretary and Vard Hayes Johnson, 74, of Palo Alto, Calif., "and formerly of Pleasant Grove and Orem, died Saturday, June 30, 1984 in Palo Alto. He was born Sept. 17, 1909 in Lindon to Hyrum E. and LuRena Hayes Johnson. He married Phyllis Boyack, Sept. 9, 1946, in Darlington, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was raised and educated in Pleasant Grove. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1933 and moved to Stanford, Calif. He received his Ph.D. in geology from the University of Arizona in Tucson and worked for the U.S. Geological Survey. He later worked for U.S. Steel at Geneva Works in Orem for six months before being transferred tran-sferred to Palo Alto, Calif. After 10 years he started his own geological consulting firm and did that until his death. He was a member of the LDS Church and was a High Priest in the Palo Alto Second Ward. He had served in Scouting, had been a teacher in the Sunday School and was in the presidency of both the Sunday School and Young Men's Mutual. v s ) XL - C Pearl Warburton Robiaon, 79, Midvale, Utah, died July 7, 1984 in Murray. She was bom Sept 28, 1904 to John Edward and Tina Anderson Warburton in Pleasant Grove. She married Clarence C. Robison on April 6, 1926. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She lived in Bingham Canyon for thirty years where she was active in the Firemen's Ladies Auxiliary. George Harold Colledge, 56, of American Am-erican Fork died Thursday, July 5, 1984 in Phoenix Ariz. He was born April 5, 1928 in Lehi to Lester and Erma Peterson Colledge. He married Shirley Watkins. They were later divorced. He married Leona Hansen and they were later divorced. He was a member of . the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had worked as a .truck driver for Ed OlpiiT Trucking, Co. in Pleasant Grove. Survivors include two sons and a daughter; Keith Harold Colledee of Orem, J R. He married Mildred Bezzant on June 13, 1941 in Provo. He attended schools in Carbon County ; and graduated from Carbon High School. He later attended Utah Technical College at Provo and served " a boilermaker apprenticeship. ap-prenticeship. He worked at U.S. Geneva Steel Works for 35 years. He retired in April of 1980. He had also worked at Seattle Cannine Co.. Standard Denzel Turner Denzel A. Turner, 77, died Saturday, July 7, 1984 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center following a long illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1906 in American Fork to Alfred Thomas and Sarah Hannah Mcklin Turner. He married Isetta May Littleford on Nov. 12, 1925 in Salt Lake City. He operated. McCoard's Service Station and Den's Tire Shop in Lehi until he retired in 1968. He was also a butcher with the Turners. He was born Jan. 19, 1903 in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Paul Antone and Anna Dorthea Japelt Kalmar. He married Lela May Coates on Jan. 12, 1939 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Washington D.C. LDS Temple. He was a construction worker in the steel and iron industry. He was a member of the LDS Church, was a High Priest and a home teacher. He is survived by his wife of Lehi; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Dorthea) Thayn, Lehi; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; grand-children; one brother, Harold H. He married Aleen Cun-nignham Cun-nignham in Salt Lake City in 1924. She died June 1965. He married Elenore Snyman Mc-Clure Mc-Clure on Oct. 17, 1968. He moved on San Diego, Calif., in 1968. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 1498. He was a . member of the LDS Church. A son, Kenneth, preceded him in death. Services were Monday, July 9, in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 'Pleasant Grove. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Bishop Frank Mills of fhe Pleasant Grove Ffth Ward. Pallbearers were Bob Jones, Jerry Smith, Jerri Walker, Ned Walker, Dave Deveraux and Mark Deveraux. The family prayer was given by Sam Walker. The prelude and postlude were played by Mary Ann Walker. The invocation was by Ronald Jones. A speaker was Ellen Deveraux. Mary Deveraux sang "Not Now But In The Coming Years" accompanied by Mary Ann Walker. A speaker was Mary Walker and Scott Walker sang "Abide With Me "Tis Eventide" accompanied by Mary Ann Walker. Remarks were given by Bishop Mills and Mary Ann Walker played "Oh My Father" as a piano solo. The benediction was by Brad Brown and the dedication of the grave was by Iowa Hall. |
