T' u V 1 : Funeral Services Held For Leo Gurney Leo William Gurney, 66, died Thursday, May 21, in the American Fork Hospital of heart failure. He was born May 23, 1914 in Lehi, a son of William ' John and Martha Emma Bushman Bush-man Gurney. He married Golda Cunningham Cun-ningham Dec. 22, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a high priest in the LDS Church and was retired from U.S. Steel Geneva Works as an electrician foreman. He is survived by his wife) two sons and one daughter, Kent R. Gurney, Leese Gurney, both of American Fork; Howard L. Gurney, Lehi; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, and two sisters, Richard K. Gurney, Cedar Hills; Dean Gurney, Mrs. Delvora Pherson, both Gladys J. Beck Funeral Services Friday Gladys Johnson Beck, 93 died on Tuesday, May 26, in the American Fork Hospital. She was born March 7, 1888 in Lehi a daughter of Charles F. and Jane Chilton Johnson. She carried James Vern teckSept. 7, 1910, in the Rait Lake LDS Temple. 'He died July 26, 1954. Following their marriage they lived in Highland until 1919 when they moved to American Fork. She has been active in the Second Ward Relief Society, served as secretary of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and was a j M.D. Liston Services Saturday 1 Murcel D. (M.D.) Liston, 60 West Smith Lane, Pleasant Grove, Utah, died Wednesday, May 27, 1981, at Utah Valley Hospital of a lingering illness. He was born April 10, 1897, at Escalante, Utah, the son of Jospeh Smith and Elizabeth Ann Riding Liston. He married Vera Gregerson April 30, 1924, in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was later solomnized in the Manti L.D.S. Temple Sept. 18, 1925. He was a rancher and cattleman in Boulder, Utah, for many years. He rode the range for Alma Walter Walser Dies Alma Walter Walser, 91, died Monday, May 25, 1981 at his home. He was born July 20, 1889, in Midway, a son of John Jacob and Mary Louisa Frischnecht Walser. He married Asenath Skousen on January 1, 1917 in the Mormon Colonies. The marriage was later solemnozed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an active member of the LDS Church, having served of Vernon and Belva Johnson, Lehi. A son, Roger C. Gurney preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 27, at 11 a.m. in the American Fork Eighth Ward Chapel. He moved from the ranch to Park City, Utah, in 1941, and Mr. Liston took employment at the Geneva Works of United States Steel Company, where he was a supervisor for 24 years, until his retirement in 1962. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of a High Priest. He is survived by his wife, Pleasant Grove; a son, Don M. Liston, Highland, Utah; and a daughter, Mrs. Earl M. (LaVern) Clark of Yuma, Arizona; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30 at 11 a.m. at the Olpine Family Mortuary, Mor-tuary, Pleasant Grove. AF Student Loses Life In Accident Funeral services were held on Tuesday for Peter Hugo Garbett, who died Saturday, May 23, 1981 from drowning due to an auto accident. Services were held at the 20th Ward Chapel in Salt Lake City. He was born in Denver, Colorado, Sept. 2, 1962, a son of William E. and Joan A. Woods Garbett. He was a student at American Fork High School and would have graduated this week. He was a basketball let-terman let-terman and a senior class officer. He has been residing with the Hal Holmstead family in American Fork in order lo graduate from American Fork High School since his parents moved to Salt Lake City. Survivors include his parents, brothers and sisters, Tim, Jamey, Sarah Garbett and Mrs. Glen (Mary) McBride, all of Salt Lake City; John Garbett, Washington D.C.; grandmothers, Mrs. Catherine Wood, Salt Lake City; Mrs. H. J. Avarett, San Pedro, California. Burial was in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, Salt Lake. Glen M. Hoggard Laid to Rest Glen McCandless Hoggard, 43, of American Fork, died Wednesday, May 20, at his home. He was born March 12, 1938 in American Fork, a son of Glen E. and Hazel McCandless Hoggard. He married Tuula Jouste, March 12, 1959 in New York City. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from American Fork High School and served in the U.S. Navy Submarine ervice from 1956 to 62. He was a journey -j .iieman for the Utah Power and Light Company and worked for eight years in Idaho. He also worked for the puget Sound and Seattle City Power, and Anchorage, An-chorage, Alaska City Power. He was an elder in the American Fork 20th ward and has held many church positions.
