Show Funeral Services for Avis Mills Smith Held Last Saturday Funeral services were held last Saturday, June 30, for Avis Mills Smith, 79, of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, who died at her home last Wednesday. The services were held in the Pleasant Grove Stake House, under the direction of Bishop Doyle B. Young of the Fifth Ward. Speaker at the services was ' Dr. Talmage M. Thomson, and Bishop Young and S. Hal Haycock Hay-cock also gave remarks. Mr. Haycock played an organ or-gan solo, and Nancy Ekins sang a vocal solo accompanied by Ann Fisher, and with violin obligato by Nola Harvey. Family prayer was given by Craig Smith, invocation by Clifton J. Wadley and benediction bene-diction by Vivian Bezzant. The grave, in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, was dedicated by George R. Paul. Pallbearers were Jerry Harris, Har-ris, Craig Smith, Calvin Mills, Paul David Faux, Mark Smith, Rex Moosman, Kevin Smith, and Mark Goodman. Honorary pallbearer was Scott Smith. Mrs. Smith was born Dec. 23, 1893 in Midvale, a daughter daugh-ter of Joseph Heber and Annie Rasmussen Mills. She married George "Roy" Smith on June 14, 1916 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Oct. 30, 1962. Mrs. Smith was co-founder of the Smith Drug Co., Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, and worked there for many years. In the Ffith Ward, she had served in the Primary and Relief Society. Survivors include two sons, Harvey E. Smith, and Don L. Smith, both Pleasant Grove; seven grandchildren, 15 greatgrandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Sadie Chandler, Pleasant Grove. |
