Show Funeral Services Held Tuesday for John (Jack) Slater Funeral Services for John E. (Jack) Slater, 63, who died Saturday Sat-urday in the American Fork Hospital, were held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Pleasant Grove First Ward Chapel. Bishop Gordon Gor-don K. Allred was in charge. Speakers at the services were Joseph H. Beveridge and Vern L. Mott, and a biographical biograph-ical sketch was given by June Pulley. Bishop Allred also gave remarks. Musical numbers were given by Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady, accompanied by Judy Allred, and William E. Petersen, Peter-sen, accompanied by Jeanne Walker. Mrs. Walker also played play-ed prelude and postlude music. Family prayer was given by Elvin Thorne, invocation by Kenneth B. Mott and benediction benedic-tion by Lynn W. Peck. The grave, in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, was dedicated by Kenneth Slater. Pallbearers were Michael Peck, R. J. Slater, Merrill Slater, Slat-er, Harry N. Loader, Elvin (Ben) Loader and Roland Barn-hart. Barn-hart. Flowers were cared for by the First Ward Relief Society. Mr. Slater was born March 21, 1909 in Lehi, a son of Nephi and Ellen Colledge Slater. He married LaVerne Marrott on March 30, 1933 in Provo. He was a crane operator for Geneva Gen-eva Works for 29 years. He was a member of the LDS Church, living in the Pleasant Grove First Ward. Survivors include his widow, Pleasant Grove, one son and one daughter, Marvin J. Slater, American Fork; Mrs. Lynn (Ar-lene) (Ar-lene) Peck, Lehi; eight grandchildren; grand-children; four brothers and three sisters, Charles Slater, James Slater and Mrs. J. L. (Verna) Barnhart, all of Lehi; Roy Slater, American Fork; Mrs. Roy (Mert) LaMatz, West Jordan; Mrs. Retta Loader and Warren Slater, both of Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove. |
