Show Funeral Rites Held Wednesday for Leonard Mayhew Funeral services for Leonard Leon-ard E. Mayhew, 71, who died Saturday morning in the American Am-erican Fork Hospital of natural natur-al causes, were held Wednesday Wednes-day at 12 noon in the Lindon Ward Chapel, under the direction direc-tion of Leo Carter, counselor in the Lindon Third Ward bishopric. bishop-ric. Speakers at the funeral were Forrest Giles and President Leon R. Walker, and Mr. Carter Car-ter also gave remarks. A vocal solo was sung by Wil-ma Wil-ma Taylor, and a group, Arvil-ee Arvil-ee Moosman, Lorna Walker, Kathy Wall, Joyce Nielsen, Janet Jan-et Tomlinson, Mable Walker and Virginia Young sang. Both numbers were accompanied by Donna Walker, who also played play-ed prelude and postlude music. Family prayer was given by Gary Davidson and invocation pronounced by Ted Young. Or-val Or-val Davis pronounced the benediction. bene-diction. The grave, in the PI. Grove City Cemetery, was dedicated ded-icated by Wendell Nelson. Pallbearers were Wendell Nelson, Stanley Nelson, Deloy Tolman, Gary Davidson, Charles Char-les Mayhew and Thomas Shaf-ter. Shaf-ter. Mr. Mayhew was born Dec. 7, 1899, a son of Elisha Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Harper Mayhew. He never married. He retired in November, 1970 from the Utah Packers, formerly form-erly Pleasant Grove Canning Co., after 31 years service. Prior to that time he had worked work-ed for the Utah State Road Commission. He was a member of the LDS Church, holding the office of a High Priest, and was group secretary in the Lindon Ward at the time of his death. He was a World War II veteran. Survivors include a brother and five sisters: Charles Everett, Ever-ett, Downey, Calif. ; Elda Mayhew, May-hew, Lindon; Rhodao and Grace Mayhew, Los Angeles; Mrs. C. A. (Florence) Wipper, Westminster, Calif., and Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Davidson, of Boise, Idaho., nine nieces and nephews. |
