Show Local Man Buried Alive, Survives Accident in Trench According to word from the immediate family Monday morning, mor-ning, Russell W. Price, 54, of Lindon, is doing just fine at Utah Valley Hospital after a freak accident last Saturday. Mr. Price was buried alive for 15 minutes while at the bottom of a trench adjacent to his home. Mr. Price, his 21-year-old son and two helpers were installing a drain to take care of water that seeped into his basement. He was at the bottom of a 12-foot-deep narrow trench, when the south side of the sand bank gave way and fell on him. His son and the other helpers said that Mr. Price was buried bur-ied standing up with about three feet of sand over his head. It. was at least 15 minutes before be-fore he could be extricated. Richard Larsen, Lindon, one of the workers, said that when they dug down to Mr. Price, they found that luckily he had gotten an arm up around his face, forming a small breathing breath-ing space. It was enough to keep him alive. He was still conscious when dragged from the trench and walked, with help, to the vehicle ve-hicle which carried him to the hospital. Examination at the hospital, later, revealed that he had suffered two fractured vertebrae. verte-brae. The Price family expressed thanks to the policemen, firemen fire-men and all others, who assisted assist-ed in any way during the emergency. |
