Show Funeral Services Held on Monday For John S. Green Funeral services for John S. Green, 83, prominent civic worker of Pleasant Grove, were held Monday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. in the First-Fifth Ward Chapel, under the direction of Bishop Joseph Beveridge of the Pleasant Grove First Ward. Mr. Green died Sept. 13 in a Provo hospital following a lingering lin-gering illness. Speakers who told of the long, active and purposeful life of the deceased were Paul Blackhurst and Patriarch Lewis Lew-is Harmer. Bishop Beveridge gave fitting closing remarks. Jeanne Walker and JoAnne Brady favored with vocal duets, du-ets, "In the Garden" and "Beyond "Be-yond the Sunset" and William E. Petersen sang "In My Father's Fath-er's House." Beverly Chris-teson Chris-teson accompanied the singers and prelude and postlude were played by Jeanne Walker. Family prayer, the invocation invoca-tion and the benediction, were offered by Richard Williams, Elvin Thome and Rulon Hone, respectively, and in that order. Pallbearers were Ren, William, Will-iam, Arnold, LaMar, Ronald and Arnold Ray Green. Flowers were cared for and arranged by the First Ward Relief Society. Burial was in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery, where Paul Ad-amson Ad-amson dedicated the grave. Mr. Green was born Feb. 1, 1885, in Pleasant Grove, a son of Samuel and Maria Josephine Joseph-ine Holman Green. He married mar-ried Blanch West Feb. 28, 1905 in Provo. The marriage was later solemnized in the LDS Temple, in Arizona. He was a farmer, sheep rancher. ran-cher. He was a former Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove city councilman, and had received an honorary lifetime life-time membership in the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. Survivors include his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Barbara G. Williams, Phoenix, Ariz.; two grandchildren, and five greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers, sisters, sis-ters, William, Arnold, both PI. Grove; LaMar, Lindon; Ren-ard, Ren-ard, Orem; Mrs. Elizabeth Millar, Mil-lar, Lindon; Mrs. Leo (Nell) Aston, Provo Canyon. |
