Show Funeral Services Held Friday for Agnes Baxter Burns Relatives ana mends from far and near in Utah and many from out of the state gathered- March 8 at the Second-Fourth Ward LDS chapel to pay tribute to the memory mem-ory of Agnes Baxter Bums, 80, and express sympathy for her family. The impressive service began at 1:30 p.m. with Bishop Keith Miller Mil-ler directing. Invocation was offered offer-ed by Roboil W. Marrctt. A vocal duet, "Hold Thou My Hand" was sung by President jBlwood Allen and Mrs. Lydla Hilton. They were accompanied by Mrs. Leslie Rees. A life sketch portraying the busy and useful life of Mrs. Bums was read by Mrs. Rosa Baxter. Speakers were Burton H. Adams Ad-ams and Joseph S. Walker. Both paid high tribute to the memory mem-ory of Mrs. Burns, for her devotion to home and family, her friendliness friendli-ness to her neighbors, and above all her faith in prayer and in God. Musical numbers given were a vocal solo "My Faith in Thee" sung by Leland Matthews, a nephew, accompanied ac-companied by his mother, Mrs. Douglas Matthews. After closing remarks of sympathy and appreciation apprec-iation far the family, by Bishop Miller, President Allen and Mrs. Hilton sang "A Perfect Day." Mrs. Rees accompanied them and also played prelude and postludle organ music. Prior to the church service, prayer in the Bums home was offered of-fered by Robert Shoell of the Second Sec-ond Ward Bishopric. Benediction was pronounced by Walter Adam-son. Adam-son. Interment, directed by Olpin-Sundberg Olpin-Sundberg Mortuary, was made in the family plot in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, where Eugene Eu-gene Bezzant offered thte deddca-torial deddca-torial prayer. Pallbearers, all close relatives, were Glen Matthews, Hug'h Baxter, Hoyt Baxter, Howard Matthews, James Baxter, and John Baxter. Flowers were cared for by the Second Sec-ond Ward Relief Society. Mrs. Bums died earlier in the week of a heart ailment at her home. |
