JOSEPH LARSEN Funeral Rites Held Thursday for Stella Baker Larsen Mrs. Stella Baker Larsen, 77, wife of Joseph Larsen, long-time resident of Manila LDS ward, died at her home Sunday night after a lingering illness. She was bora in Metz,, W. Va., April 5, 1877, the daughter of William D. and Emaline Kendall Baker. Her father, a Civil War veteran of the Union army, died in 1883, and the widow and three children moved to Utah in 1889, making their home in Pleasant Grove where Mrs. Larsen attended the public schools. She married Joseph Larsen Aug. 20, 1897 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had lived in Pleasant Grove continuously, except for a period of six years in Spanish Fork. Mrs. Larsen was active in LDS church organizations until recent years, serving as president of the YWMIA in the Manila Ward, Sunday Sun-day School teacher and lpine Stake religion class officer. She was skilled in needle work and an accomplished seamstress. Surviving are her husband, and a son, Joseph W. Larsen, both of Pleasant Grove; a daughter, Mrs. Ernest R. (Velma) Rasmuson, Provo; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Olpin Mortuary, Pleasant Grove, under the direction of Bishop Harvey E. Smith of the Manila LDS Ward. Interment was in the family burial plot in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. |
