Show Funeral Rites for George Johnson Held Wednesday Funeral services for George A. Johnson, 68, were held Wednesday, Wed-nesday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. in the Second-Fourth Ward LDS Chapel, under the direction of Bishop Lloyd Walker of the Second Ward. Mr. Johnson died Jan. 28, at his home, following a lingering linger-ing illness. Speakers who eulogized the deceased as a kindly husband, father and neighbor, were E. M. Williams and Keith Miller. A life sketch was read by Dale Hadfield. Gene Nelson sang "Abide With Me 'Tis Eventide" and "Going Home," accompanied by Lorin Jex. Prelude and post-lude post-lude were played by Catherine Rees. Ned Johnson led in family prayer, invocation was asked by Wesley Jense and Richard Highan pronounced the benediction. bene-diction. Pallbearers were Paul Ford-ham, Ford-ham, Frank Walker, Robert Hansen, Walter Fisher, William Blackwell and Ralph Varney. Flowers were cared for and arranged by the Second Ward Relief Society. Burial was in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery where Robert Marrott dedicated the grave. Mr. Johnson was born Dec. 25 1899 in Montpelier, Idaho to Harmon E. and Alice Whitmore Johnson. He married Marie Nelson June 18, 1927 in Salt Lake City and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Mr. Johnson was an employee of Western Automatic Sprinklers. Sprink-lers. Survivors include his widow, sons, daughters: Leo F., David G., both Pleasant Grove; Ned L., Las Vegas, Kent A., Mrs. Don (Nadine) Taylor, both North Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Ted (Alice) Beal, Lehi; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, sister, Cecil Cec-il E., Magna; Alton R., Salt Lake City; Cyril D., Coolidge, Ariz.; Mrs. La Von (Thelma) Fox, Midvale. |
