The Serenth Day Adventists are again at their old pranks predicting the end of the world and the Becond coming of Christ. One of the pro minent members of that faith foreshadows the great event in the present Turkish crisis. When an Adventist or anyone else, predicts the end of the world will oome at a certain time yon may rest assured that that time will go by without any unnsual occurrence. Xore School room XmAsI To the patrons of the public schools and the pnblio in general: We respectfully invite your attention to the following: Pay son has a school population of nine hundred and fifty seven. About wven hundred pupils are now in the public schools with an average of seventy to the teacher. It is impractible to make an equal distribution and for that reason several schools have an attendance of nearly eighty. With this number it is impossible to ventilate properly. In primary schools teachers may work and worry night and day without securing satisfactory results. In higher grades while the very best results are not attainable, fair progress can be madei The enrollment in the advanced departments will, in all probability, be augmented greatly within the next few weeks. However it is believed that suitable accommodations can be for all the larger pupils that to enter the publin desire may schools. They are earnestly invited to come. It is generally conceded by recognized authorities that fifty pupils should be the maximum for - primary schools. The nature of the work and the individual attention required of the teacher preclude all possibility of success with a much larger number. In some parts of the territory the limit is Three set at forty or forty-fttof onr primary schools have an average of more than seventy and teachers are forced to crowd three in a seat As all of the buildings owned by the district are occupied and two rented ones are in use, the trustees are compelled to do what they can with the facilities at hand. Many districts have successfully operated their primary schools with halfday sessions and it is thought that the same plan will work with good results here. Therefore with Monday Nov. 25 the pupils of the first grade in the schools taught by Miss Ida Coombs, Miss Hsthma Curtis and Mr. S. D. Moore will be separated into two sections, one for the forenoon from nine till twelve and the other from (me till four p. m. Pupils of the second grade in these schools will enter at nine in the morning and be dismissed at p. m. It is hoped that the patrons will take to this change kindly and view it in the light of present conditions. A careful investigation of the facts will convince anyone that there is no alternative. D. The noise awoke Mrs. Frie who got np to investigate when Booth entered a rear door, and seeing the woman, approached and atruck her a severe blow on the jaw. He then seized her by the throat and commenced choking her, throating to kill her if ahe did not aubSiik The screams of the children attracted the neighbors, who came over and upon their approach the brute ran from the house sud got ou his horse and fled, leaving hia hat belli ud. Marshal Ballard was notified sud suspecting Booth to be the guilty one, went over to Salem where he lives, and placed him under arrest, after he had acknowledged the ownership of the hat left behind. He was arraigned before justice Barnett Tuesday afternoon and plead guilty, claiming that he was nnder the influence of liqnor and did not remember anything about the affair. lie was bound over to the grand jury, hia bond being fixed at $800. Talk of lynching waa indulged during the day and at night a large crowd of men and boya, numbering about ISO, went np to the jail, and almost scared the fellow to death by pretending that they were going to lynch him. He prayed and bawled, plead formercy and yelled murder, which attracted the marshal, who went np aud dispersed the crowd. Bullard assured him he need not fear as he had a guard of fifty to protect him, whereupon the trembling culprit remarked, "what would fifty be to five hundred. Being unable to furnish bond he waa taken to Provo the next morning and placed in the county jail .
