Addopted ia Provo Convention, September 11th, 1894: In convention assembled the Republicans of Utah renew their fealty to the arty of freedom and justice, the party of free speech and a free ballot, the party that believes in the protection of American industries, the American working-ma- n Dd the American citizen, and con- gratulates the people of Utah on the near approach of statehood, and declare, First In favor of the American doctrine of protection to home industries, established by the founders of the gov- ernment, by the Republican party and steadily practiced by the pioneers and people of Utah. Second We recognize the silver question as one of paramount importance to the people, and we believe that no full violation of the spirit of the law. Seventeenth We arraign the Democratic territorial officials of Utah for gross and repeated violations of the civil service law and such of the Democratic judges as have dragged their high offices down to the offensive partisanship Eighteenth We favor the granting of equal suffrage to women. Nineteenth We demand for the new state of Utah a wise, liberul constitution and an economical government, and pledge the Republican party, if given the power, to secure both. Twentieth We rejoice in the past of the Republican party; we glory .in the fact that no other political organization ever approximated to its magnificent achievements, and look confidently for its swift restoration to power and a renewal of its benefactions to the people of the United States.
