Our sincere welcome to Gean in this new position. With the arrival of warm weather, the insects will be coming out of the ground, and we will all have to get out our spray guns to fight them off. However, there are other types of vermin that prey on the homeowner, and no type of spray has been developed that will protect us from them. They are the so called Suede Shoe Salesmen who come through a community, trying to make a fast buck, get all they can and then Fly by Night! to some other unsuspecting region. Building sold The old Robertson building on South Main Street, Payson, was sold at public auction by the Utah County Commission at the Courthouse in Provo last Friday. Noel Dixon, Payson building contractor, who purchased the building, said his plans are indefinate. The building was constructed about 1900 and the architectural structure of the front facade is of the Turn of the Century design chosen by Payson Chamber of the downtown Commerce for section. The Chamber of Commerce has considered purchase of the property, but after much study and debate, voted against such purchase. They had planned to leave the front intact and create a walkway through to their parking space at the rear, or to raze the building and use the space for parking. The Chamber voted against purchase of the building because of cost that would be n entailed in repair of the place and also because of possible legal entanglements should they decide to tear it down. It is a double building with a front trim that makes it appear as one. Amy Vest owns the south portion and for years operated a cafe there. The north part has housed grocery stores, and Dr. L. D. Phouts had his dental office in the upper floor for many years. The lower part was last used as a pool hall by the late Brooks Robertson. It has now been vacant for several years.
