Mr. Barnett owns and operates Payson Sheet Metal. Christmas is again upon us and Christmas trees are nowin demand. Each year trees are cut from along the roads and in the campgrounds on National Forests. District Ranger Harold E. Laird cautions that this is a violation of both Federal and State Law and that violators will be prosecuted. There will not be any Christmas tree permits issued on the Nephi Ranger District because the trees are too valuable esthetically. Anyone seeing trees cut on the National Forest are asked to report the information to the nearest law enforcement officer or Forest Officer. This is your land, please help protect it. Now that winter has come, the roads into the campgrounds in Salt Creek east of Nephi and Maple Bench Campground in Payson Canyon will be closed for the winter. This will help protect the roads and help prevent or minimize vandalism. These roads will be opened next spring as weather permits. freestyle. The next invitational meet will be during the Christmas holidays at Kearns. Weed Control to Be Handled by District Weed control 1969 will be handled on a district basis rather than on a state basis as in the past. The District Weed Control Conference for Utah and Wasatch Counties is geared mainly to the farmers and will be held in Utah County December 20 at the Central Utah Conservancy District, ?55 West 1300 South, Orem - from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We will highlight weed control in alfalfa, corn and small grains, as well as perennial noxious weed control. Dr. Jack Evans, head of Weed Research at Utah State University, representatives from Dow, DuPont, Amchem, Geigy and Elanco, Ray Downs, State Department of Agriculture and Marion Olsen, Chairman of the Weed Committee, will be participating on the program. The battle of weeds continues to be a real serious problem and this is one battle we cannot afford to lose. Being present at this district weed meeting will help us in winning the campaign. I shown, IF A will increase its facilities at its Spanish Fork plant to accommodate the grain corn program. Ray S. Davis, seed and fertilizer sales representative for Intermountain Farmers Association has been purchasing huge quantities of corn out of the state for many years as one of the ingredients for its feeds. Under the new plan, IFA will install drying equipment at its Spanish Fork mill. Utah-grocorn can be dried and used in IFA feeds instead of imported corn. This new program should provide a welcome new way to utilize the corn and help keep our agricultural industry healthy in Utah County. We urge all farmers interested ingrowing corn to attend the meeting,Commissioner Roberts said. John Roghaar, general manager cf Intermountain Farmers Association, stated: The operation we are proposing will require a minimum of 2,000 acres of corn and probably more.. We are a farm cooperative, organized to help solve farm problems. We believe this is a way to help Utah County agriculture. If farmers are interested, we will attempt to get the program under way immediately so that they can go ahead with their corn planting next spring as usual. We hope this will solve a problem for many farm people. We believe it is a good way to protect and stimulate agriculture in this area. The meeting will be under the direction of the Utah County Commission. Representatives from many interested groups will participate along with Mr. Davis, who will outline the program for Inter mountain Farmers. Everyone interested is invited to attend the meeting, according fj Commissioner Ro- berts. ft. 3 LARD 89 pkgs $ 1 4 lb pkg 79 .... sliced BACON Fresh GROUND 491 MARKET UTAH PAYSON, Dale Morrison, top and Mark Lafferty tangle in practice for the Payson High School Wrestling Team. lb. ... 2 lbs 97 BEEF DIXONS PHS Wrestling Team Defeats Springville The Payson BETTER High School Wrestling Team squeaked out a win against Springville 28-in a dual match played on the Springville mats and lost Friday afternoon on their home court to Morgan 9.
