They laugh loud now in thinking of it but at that time it was serious business, trying to hide gooy bread that wanted to keep rising. It used to be that omitting a small item like baking powder in a cake could cause a real flop, especially if your were coming for their first dinner. The cake mixes have helped the modern cook considerably, but they can still manage an ugly hump in the middle, a crack here and there, or turn out crumbly. To Valley Music Hall on July 19th to Are Teens all Grub? In observing the dress standards of teenagers it is evident that the favorite form of most is grubbies. This seems to be the thing that is worn to many of the teenage activities. In noticing this many adults seem to think that the young people of today dont care how they look. I would say that this entirely false. It may be true that the young people dont dress up all the time, but when they do this is one of the best dressed gengerations ever. The teenagers seem to put more emphasis on clothing than ever before. One of the best examples of this would be to go to a formal dance and ob- serve the dress standards of those there. This should be evidence for even the hardest of in-la- I had done a lot of cooking be- fore my marriage and my cherry and apple pies as well as most of the ordinary things had turned out pretty well, but my husband had on several occasions praised his mothers custard pie. This had been served very seldom in my mothers home but elated at my past success in the kitchen I felt able to tackle a little thing like a custard pie. So I did. After much searching I was able to find a recipe for custard and start my project. I made some pie crust, fit it in the pan, pricked the crust carefully, poured in the filling, sprinkled on the nutmeg and put it in the oven. I noted as I lifted it from the oven that it looked slightly different from the ones my mother had served, but I was by then busy with other dirner preparations and forgot about it until time to serve the pie. It was at this time that I discovered the pie crust was now on top and the custard underneath! To this day of course, when I serve my right side up custard pie, I still am reminded one. SO Ill of my topsy-turv- y tell all of you brides, June or otherwise a secret, in case you dont know it already. Never, but never, prick a pie crust before heart. The reason most teenagers like the grubby style of clothing is simply because in the summer its cooler, and it helps them relax. One feels rather couped up in a suit and it always feels good to jump into something shabby. Id say all in all teens like to look sharp but there are times when its fun to let your hair down and just be plain grubby. pouring the unbaked filling for custard pie in it.
