Show West Mountain News BY RUBY MEREDITH Leo Thompson is a patient at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake suffering from a Mr. and Mrs. Reed accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Harvev Jolley and family from Skull Valle spent Friday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Jolley. Mountain. The Relief Society birthday was celebrated in an interesting way. Members and their husbands met at the Cultural Hall for a delicious ham dinner. A large birthday cake centered the room with jellow and blue flowers as center-piece- s. Mrs. Echo Durrant was presented with a birthday present and the following members were presented with surprise gifts; Pres. LeRoy Hill, Vera Bishop, Ethel Hirst, Virgil Jolley, Craig Wayman, Ruby Meredith, Ernest Rothe, Elaine Schramm, AlmaTanner, Carl Starr and Glen Thatcher. The program committee consisted of Anna Kenison, Ruth Mr. and Mrs. Robert Finch were speakers at Sacrament services on Sunday evening. Mt. Nebo Mariners hear discussion on Mental Health The Mt. Nebo Mariners held their regular monthly social and business meeting March 21. Myrtis Jacobs gave a resume of an article on Mental Health Centers which provide a new method of caring for the mentally ill. These centers, to be scattered throughout a state, would keep the patients nearer home and provide a more normal situation for them than the present institutionalized system does. The marriage was solemnized in an LDS temple in 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Lance lived in Hanksville from the time of their marriage until 1941, when they moved to Pavson. Lance, Tooele; Mrs. Darys (Clella) Ecker, Hanksville; Pasco Mrs. Tulio. (Lola) Tooele; Mrs. Marion (Irene) Anderson, Grantsville; Charles Arden Lance, Cortez, Colo.; Ammon Deroy Lance, Payson; Allie Jay Lance, Tooele; Mrs. Keith (F ern) Malcolm, Salt Lake City. They have 45 grandchildren and 11 were mentioned. Rev. Coleman told of a new venture in the State Hospital at Provo, where now several patients with various illnesses are in a given area together thus helping each other. Counseling service is also provided, Mr. Coleman being one of the counselors. This is on a voluntary basis as far as the patients are concerned. Mrs. Van Leuven left Payson Dec. 28 and visited in Southern Osborns at South Gate and the W. E. Wanlass family at Burbank. On Jan. 28 she boarded a plane for Denver, Colo., and there attended a farewell testimonial honoring her grandVan Leuven, who departed for the LDS Northwestern1 Mission. Mrs. Van Leuven spent two months in Denver with her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Van Leuven, before returning home Mr. and Mrs. Selby Dixon and their granddaughter, Danna Lee Dixon, who is a student at the vocational school in Provo, spent the weekend in Ogden with Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins and family. All attended funeral services for Mrs. Mitchells David M. Fowler, 62, held on Friday in Salt Lake City. Mr. Fowler was the husband ofClea Mitchell Fowler, formerly of Payson. They were married Sept. 7, 1934, in Payson and had spent their married life in Salt Lake. Surviving in addition to the widow are two sons and three daughters. Also attending the services were Mrs. Ethel Mitchell and her houseguest, Mrs. Sarah M. Farr, Pocatello, Idaho, and Mrs. Mitchells daughters, Mrs. Blaine Dibble and Mrs. Earl Walker, Payson, in addition to Mrs. Susan Ashby and Irene Provstgaard who sang a vocal solo at the services, with piano accompaniment by Joyce Provstgaard.
