J. Meyers, located about one mile west of the Spring Lake school house was completely destroyed by fire at 5 a. m. Tuesday. Mr. Meyer built a fire in the kitchen stove real early and then went into the field to turn the irrigation water. As he started back toward the house it was entirely in flames, evidently from sparks falling on the roof. Mrs. Meyer and six children were asleep in the house They were aw'akened and put in the school truck which Mr. Meyer drives, and taken to a married daughter who is the nearest neighbor. A trunk and a few articles of wearing apparel were the only things saved. The Payson fire truck was called and when they arrived Mr. Meyer had turned a stream of water from the high line canal. Although the home was beyond saving they pumped for about one hour and saved all slacks and outbuildings located on the premises.
