They were beaten by Pleasant Grove on the second day 12 to 2 and on Wednesday they defeated another Orem team, 9 to 7 but on Thursday they were beaten by the Goshen team, 7 to 6. Riches of 415 East 4th South, Payson, Utah is a member of the initial crew of USS Francis Hammond, a new destroyer escort commissioned at Long Beach, Calif., July 25. As a member of the commissioning crew, he observed the final phases of the ships construction, assisting in the establishment of the ships administrative organization and intensive training. Elk permits NAMCO BARRETT Cadet Roger A. Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs, Wayne Jensen, 70 East 200 South, Goshen, Utah, is receiving six weeks practical application in military leadership at the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps advanced summer camp at Ft. Lewis, Wash., from June 12 to July 23. Cadet Jensen is one of approximately 17,000 young men expected to attend ROTC advanced camps at various military installations throughout the nation. He will train as a small unit leader and instructor in realistic exercises, and will receive command experience and the opportunity to apply classroom knowldege in the field. Jensen is a student at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. His wife, Barbara, lives in Goshen. He has filed to represent District Two of the Spanish Fork area, a post held by Dr. William Sorensen for the past twelve years. Dr. Clark, a Professor of Education at B.Y.U., would bring a board background of educational experience to the Nebo Board. He holds a doctor's degree in public school administration and has had fifteen years of varied public school and university experience. Before Joining the B.Y.U. faculty in 1969, he was a Professor of Education at the University of Northern Colorado. In this position he served as a consultant to the universitys Educational Planning Service, an organization rendering educational guidance to school districts throughout He has also Colorado and the taught at Weber State College and served earlier as a principal and teacher in Mid-We- st. Dr. Clifford Clark Nebo School District. An active member of the L.D.S. Church, Dr. Clark has served in two bishoprics, on the High Council, as a Branch President in Colorado, and is currently Executive Secretary to the Spanish Fork Stake Presidency. He has also been active in civic affairs and is a member of the Spanish Fork Kiwanis Club. A native of the Spanish Fork area, he was born in Benjamin, Utah. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Clark who still reside in Benjamin. He received his public school education in Nebo School District and was graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1947, Upon recently returning to Utah the family selected Spanish Fork as a home where they reside in the Thirteenth Ward. Included in his family are Clara Lee, his wife, Leesa, Kent and Steven, students at Park School and Dave, a senior at Spanish Fork High School. Dr. Clark feels that Nebo District should continue to upgrade its educational program. He feels the major responsibility of a board member is to represent the people by evaluating and establishing in size to at least a double track operation before additional new elementary buildings are erected. Most of the present elementary schools are too small to be run economically and lack the size to accommodate services and programs possible in larger units. Another area needing careful attention is that of new educational programs and To Insure against costly innovations. and frustrating ventures, careful evaluation and deliberation need to be exercised before programs are put into operation. If elected, Dr. Clark would work toward better home, school and community relationships and the continued improvement of educational programs.
