Funeral services were held THE PAYSON CHRONICLE Payson, Utah - 84651 Thursday, December 5, 1968 Probate Here - Continued from Page 4 be used to the big change in Paysons Mainstreet. I am of course referring to the ONE WAY street regulations. I for one say Its one of the best ideas anyone ever had. I heard one fellow say years ago that some one should have opened a Voltswagon dealership in this town if not in any other. Young and old drivers alike always felt that they had passed their greatest test if they could make it safely down main street during business hours. One Payson resident remarked upon the new innovation with disgust saying he had a much better idea they should have tried, closing off mainstreet to parking and driving cars at all. As I thought over his suggestion I was reminded of one thing. So far as I have been able to observe this particular man goes up to main street once or twice a year and he also likes to WALK. So I felt that his idea would perhaps take a bit of thinking over, but who knows if the townspeople turn the street into a mall it may very well be the next innovation around here. I just made a hurried trip to town. You know the kind of unexpected errand that comes up when youre not cleaned up and havent time to change and something is needed quick. Due to the places I had to go I ended up on main street south of the business district and still had to do some more shopping. As I said I was in a rush because of a tight schedule. I just planned to get a parking space on the east side as close as possible and dash into the store and make my purchase before anyone saw me in my work clothes. Of course the first thing I realize is that I cant go north on that one way street anymore. Going around the blocks and coming in from the other way will take time I havent got. Parking in back of the stores in the parking lot will mean walking, and in my old house dress and sneakers with holes in. My family would say it served me right, they think Im foolish to let two good pair of canvas shoes sit in the closet and continue to wear my old, old ones every day. But, they feel so good on my feet, and Im conservative minded I guess. I finally go home without making any purchase, but the nagging question keeps bothering me, Whose bright idea was it to make a one way street there anyway? The thing keeps bugging me for a while, but before the day is over I have thought the whole thing over and come to an earlier conclusion, Its one of the best ideas anyone ever had. Headlines 4 Continued from Page can get busy in the morning while they are off to school 1 should make my fruit cakes tomorrow too. It takes them 2 hours to bake and I have a hard time staying home long enough to mix them up and bake them. Busy, busy days! But arent they fun! If I could stop time, I think I would like to stop it right now. Our children are ages 5, 6, 9, 11 and 13 and they are all at a good age - old enough to care for themselves and young enough for me to tuck them all in bed at night. Bye for now.
