Show nltf Pew QDff THE Payson, Utah The Payson Lions started off the season Friday, with a 26-- 0 score over the Provo Bulldogs. Both teams clashed together with lots of spirit and pep. In the first half, the Lionsscored 13 points leaving the Bulldogs scoreless. Some of the Sandwiches and cold drinks were served to the football team last Friday at the game with Provo in Payson by the following: Max Llewellvn of the American Legion; Leah May Tanner, Betty Llewellyn, Gladvs Larson and Lenore Jones of the Legion Auxiliary. Maxine Carlisle came away with first place honors in the Ladies Pleasure. Mary Jean Brown won 5th place in the same class. Glen Thatcher brought home a second place ribbon from the Mens Pleasure Class. Ron Hall won 2nd in the Stock Horse and Dwayne Haskell won 3rd in the same class. The relay race team, consisting of Wayne Brown, Lawrence Thompson, Joe Staheli on Pete Wilsons horse, and Carl Marvin won 3rd place. The water race team consisting of Debbie and Glen Thatcher, Maxine Carlisle, Mary Jean Brown and LuDean Haskell, won 5th place. In addition to those participants, several other members of the riding club took their families to Richfield where all had an enjoyable time camping out and watching the competition. This is the first year for the State Meet to be held anywhere but at the State Fair in Salt Lake City, but the facilities in Richfield were adequate and everyone has an enjoyable time. 4v' t- -- NEWS OF SERVICEMEN w Thomas Neilson, Mrs. M. While in Vietnam the battalion will be build ng housing, repairing roads, and installing water and electric facilities in support of Marine units located near their Gia Le combat base. PAYSON CHRONICLE 84651 Upland Game Bird Rules Set by Board Arabian Horse Club Slates Clinic Meeting in Salt Lake City last week the Board of Fish and Game set final regulations on five upland game bird hunts to open September 23 at daybreak. Chukar, Hungarian partridge, ruffed grouse, blue grouse and sage grouse will all open on September 23. The longest of this years upland game bird hunts will be for chukar and Hungarian partridge. This hunt will continue through January 4, 1968 with a bag and possession limit on each of these birds set at 5 and 10 respectively on a statewide basis. In passing of the forest grouse hunt, the Board opened this season through October 31 with a bag and possession limit of 4 and 8 on the blue and ruffed grouse combined on a statewide hunt. Shortest of the bird hunts will be for sage grouse which will be September 23 and 24 only. There will be a one bird daily bag limit in Box Elder, Cache, Rich, Weber, Morgan, Davis and Summit counties. In Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, Carbon, Emery, Grand, Sevier and part of Piute counties there will be a two bird daily bag during the two day hunt. All other areas of the State will be closed for sage grouse. The Utah Aiabian Horse Club is sponsoring a Horse Judging Clinic for the nu mhers of who are earning the Horse Project in Utah County.
