Utah High School to present play Friday night in auditorium The Matchmaker, a delightful four-acomedy by Thornton Wilder, is being presented Friday, December 9, by the Payson High School. Curtain time is 8:00 p.m. The story is centered around Horace Vandergelder, a wealthy merchant of Yonkers, played by Michael Jewett, who decides that since he has just finished making his first he can afford to be foolish and take for himself a wife. To this end he employes Mrs. Levi, Donna Dixon, who although unknown to Vandergelder, has ideas of her own. The plot thicgtns when clerks, Cornelius Hackle and Barneby Tucker, played by Calvin Ewell and Lynn Draper, tire of living a dull, drab life and decide to go to New York for the weekend where they in turn run into Mr. Vandergelder and others. The story comes to a rousing roaring climax as everything is resolved at Miss Van Huysens house, played by Roxie Throckmorton. Clark Elmer, chairman of the waterworks and sewer committees, to raise funds for the construction of sewer collection lines for the East side of Payson." A flat 50 cents per month per connection has been charged by the city. Osmond Dunford Winter has come and with it certain problems that do not plague us during other seasons of the year. I am reminded by our Streets Department that some citizens have their cars parked on bur streets and highways. This hinders our crews whose job it is to clear our streets of snow and ice. We hereby make a request that all cars be parked off the streets to enable efficient cleaning of our roads. We do not know just what is in store for us but it looks like a solid winter with a great deal of snow and we urge all citizens to cooperate in this matter. Oral Stewart is new stake Sunday School superintendent Stewart was named superintendent of the Nebo Stake Sunday School recently by the stake presidency. Sustained as counselors to Mr. Stewart were Dean Elmer and Sterling Spencer. Mrs. Lois Sorenson was retained as secretary. Mr. Stewart succeeds Maynard C. League Play Starts Monday League bowling will start Monday and will be played every night Monday through Thursday. Four mens leagues have been organized and two ladies leagues. There will be eight teams in each league. The ladies will play on Tues days and Thursdays, the men will play all four nights. There are still openings in both the mens and ladies leagues and anyone interested can contact the owners at the alley. - Safety Council asks caution to prevent accidents Members of the Payson City Safety Council made several recommendations at their regular meeting held Monday evening. They issued a word of warning to Payson citizens to take extra precautions to prevent accidents both at home and on the highway. Nebo Wildlife Federation in the Payson City Council Chamber Monday, Dec. 12, for the purpose of discussing proposed legislation on Fish and Game in Utah. One issue which will be the proposed is a license increase. Xmas prizes This Xmas season the Beautification Committee is offering two five dollar prizes for Junior Snow sculpture at the front of their home.
