This handy little booklet is included among the numerous helps which the Bureau provides free of charge. More than twice as many motor trips were planned by the Bureau last year as during 1931. Since a recent survey shows that the average distance covered by each 1932 tour was 3,400 miles, it has been estimated that the total distance for all tours approximates 436 milloin miles, or more than four times the distance from the i arth to the sun. Motorists who tooK advantage of Conoco Travel Bureau services during the past year, as well as the large number who have applied for assistance since January 1 of this year, are to be found in every state in the Union as well as a number of foreign countries. According to Mr. Stack, anyone who travels by motor car is entitled to receive free assistance from the Bureau. This can be done by writing to the Bureaus central offices in Denver or by applying at any station Since its selling Conoco Products. establishment during January, 1930, the Bureau has increased both the quality and quantity of its services to a remarkable degree. Today the , Pa.-spoj- applicant may expect to receive the most complete scenic and highway information obtainable regardless of vvliat section of the country he wishes to visit. Preferred routes to his des ination are indicated upon the road maps he receives. Colorful booklets describing the interesting scenic points along his route as well as complete sports, cabin camp, hotel and historical information are also included in the immense bundle of free supplies mailed to him almost immediately upon receipt of his letter. This material allows the motorist to receive the full benefit from his trip and also encourages him to purchase his necessities along the way rather than in advance. One of the most interesting ies we have made, said Mr. stud- Stack, concerns the portion of the tourists dollar which is generally sp'-nupon each type of commodity. According to our figures, miscellaneous retail purchases account for the biggest slice, or 25 cents. Since they get 21 cents, the restaurants are next in order. Hotels and tourist camps get 20 cents; transportation (which includes car depreciation as well as pet- t oleum products) costs 20 cents; amusi ments, 8 cents, and confectionery 6 cents. The attractive Travel Bureau bus which visited this city is one of two now touring the country. It is equiped with ladio and loud speaker apparatus as well as a number of illumin-.te- d scenic displays. , CHRONICLE WAXTADS PAY i KBESiaMiBiBMKif n 1 SOMNERS NATURAL wvvvwvv . or'- His) - OIL PERMANFtc'T WAVES' K M including Shampoo and FREE Finger Wave o Either of thee waves without the Shampoo and Finger Wave A small price to pay for preventing galls $2.25 and sore shoulders M Payson Harness L.
