Show I 1 A GUESTION QUESTION ABIE AB LE REMEDY whether the resolution adopted liy by the iron county taxpayers rax payers association at the convention on saturday 1 providing that the next legislature be asked to pass a law invalidating any future bond election at which less lesa than fifty percent of the qualified voters tail fail to vote is a good move is questionable we cant recall that there ever was a bond election in this county at which anywhere near fifty percent of those qualified voted As a matter of tact fact the number who vote is more frequently less than twenty five per cent and therein lies the argument in favor of the resolution advocates of such a law point out that a small minority carries the bond election and increases tax burdens because the majority tail fail to vote there argument might bo be carried one step farther a very aery small minority does most of the hining hinh ng and acting along lines of progress and development for us they are responsible tor for most of our progress and it is our observation that that same minority includes the men who pay a large per cent of the baxes t it restrictions are placed on teem we are doubtful it if the results wila be good moreover as we review the bond issues fa sties which have been legalized in this county by ithac very small minority we wondra which one we would eliminate or vote down it if wo a e had it to I 1 do over olver again I 1 tax burdens should be relieved as much as possible but not at the expense of consistent progress and development the taxpayers association compos ed as it is of some of our biggest roen raen men who happily belong tor for thi most part to that progressive gres sive minority mInt rity can easily defeat a bond elect on OIL it it chases without further legi itata 0 we imail cimagl ne tte legislature will consider thab th matter very carefully before it pai sees the law provided tor for by the resol ution lation |
