OWAN TIME PAROWAN TIMES, PAROWAN, UTAH, OCTOBER, U). 1957 NUMBER FORTY NINE Scheduled For Club Holds COMING POLITICAL CONVENTION RcgularMcct The regula monthly With party conventions still a week away, there seems to be a lot more than usual political activity this year. Gen. erally a city election doesnt stir much excitement, but this year seems to be the exception. Nominations are to be made for a Mayor and two council-me- n at the Wednesday night conventions of both major political parties. Several names have been mentioned for each of the offices to be filled. Among them are A. G. Merkley, F. C. Van Buren, Jay W. Moore incum-ban- t, Morris Rasmussen, He-bGurr, Ralph Orton, Eldon Smith, and possibl others that we havnt heard about. Stake Party Gun and Rod INTEREST BEING STIRRED FOR October 11, meet- ing of the Parowan Gun and Rod Club was held last Thurs. night at the court house. In past years, it has been the policy of the club to raffle a rifie off at the dance, but it wa derided by the mem- bership that this year, instead of the raffle, that door prizes would be given instead. The prizes will be given to the holders of lucky numbers, dance on Oct. 17. during Eleven prizes have been secured for the drawing and will consist of huntng equipment. A motion was made to award two big deer prizes again this year. One for the largest spread and one for the heaviest animal. To be eligable for competieion this year, a membership in the club ha to be secured in the organization be for October 1 of this year. Since the cost of operation was more than the club could handle alone, and the fact that help couldnt be secured to operate it, it was derided not to place the hunter information tent up this year. For the past two years the tent has brought much favor- able publiciy to Parowan, but has cost than the club felt they' could afford this year. The Stake Presidency and High Council of the Parowan Stake are staging a Stake Party on October 11, in the High School buildings. The first is Tuesday, one of the two for this regif'tration days year's muncipal election. Having your name on the list of eligible voters is an expression of Americanism. The second important day 's Wednesday, the day of the nominating conventions for both parties in Parowan. If you really want to make your vote "count attend the party nominating convention of your choice Wednesday evening, October 16. One vote there may count as much as 300 will on November 5.
