Entertainment Features Include Rodeo, Races, and Dancing All is in readiness for the Iron Gunry Fair which will pet under way at Parowan Saturday through Monday actordin to the Fair Hoard. In addition to the anticipated exhibits in all except the livestock department, a series of entertainments designed to attract fair visitor, have been arranged. Queen Contest The Authorities entertUinmertt feature of the 1957 Fair will be the coronation ball on of Southern Utah in Cedar City. The highlight of the affair will be the coronation of the new Miss Iron County after her selection from contestants from each city in the county. Fri-Collo- ge Music for this occasion will be furnished by the Heywood orchestra. Rodeo and Races After her selection, the new queen will reign over all events during the fair. Race meets and amateur rodeos will be held Saturday and Monday afternoon at Parowan. under the direction of the Red IIill Wranglers Saddle Club. Post time has been set at 2.00 p.m. both days. Saturday evening, the Iron County Farm Bureau will sponsor their Talent Find. Parade On Monday morning, the Labor Day parade will be held on Parowans main st. The theme of this years parade is The Second 100 Years, and is under the chair manship of A. C. Hatch. Prizes of $50. and $25. will be awarded first and second place winners in the regular float division. First and second prizes of $15. and $10 will be awarded in the humorous entry division. Council Defers Action On Slates Election A slate of officer candidates to be voted on by the Parowan High School Alumni Assn has been selected by a nominating comnutte. As in past sears, candidates have been selected to run on a blue and gold ticket. Those named on the Gold ticket are lleber Gurr, pres. Watson Adams, Marleen Burton, sec.; Marie Munford, treasurer, and Georgia Stowe, Myrna Mitchell and Spencer Lemmon, board members. On the Blue ticket are: Wm Boardman, president, Kendall vice-preside- Gurr, vice-preside- Frankie Lou Bentley, secretary, Gret-t- a Wood, treasurer and Ralph Edwards, Shirley Mercer and Fred Topham as board members. Election of officers will be held during the annual homecoming of PHS Alumni to be staged during the Iron County Fair this month. Engagement Made Known Businessmens Resolution A resolution sent to the City Council by the Parowan Val- ley Businessmans Association, occupied most of jhe time at the regular meeting on Monday night. The resolution was In protest of actions of the city marshal in his handling of traffic violations and of teen agers in the city. The rtsolution stated in part "WHEREAS: considerable time and money has been spent by various groups to promote tourist business in Parowan for several years &; WHEREAS, the present city marshal in the past six weeks has practically nullified all these efforts through his unreasonable methods, and; WHEREAS, Parowan City is being branded as a "speed trap for at least one hundred miles in each direction on highway 91, and; WHEREAS, such a reputation is causing considerable loss of business to concerns in Parowan, and; WHEREAS, the methods used in handling the young people of this and neighboring communities, such as threatening them with an unauthorized cerfew ticket, discharg ing his gun in attempting to stop a car, following them home, and otherwise unduly harrassing them, is aggravating a problem which may become more serious, and; WHEREAS, both the Highway Patrol and Sheriffs Dept havp declined to cooperate by, Robert B.
