A fund of $300,000 was up for future building which will make it possible to pay for new school buildings on a basis This amount w'as set up in addition to the regular operating and maintainance fund. With these monies for new buildings approved, a definite building program, a 1 prior- 1956-5- it v sstem for construction .schedule for badly needec. school buildings was set up Under the schedule,, the first building to be built will be the Cedar City South school, which will d in the fall probably be st of 1957. Next will be a new elementary school at Parowan which is slated for 1959. Following these two schools will be the Cedar City High School, which is already overcrowded in some departments. Parowan High School is the next school to receive atten tion. At present part of the high school facilities including the ag department, the library, domestic arts, and music departments are located in the elementary building. These will be moved to the high school building under the new program. The over-al- l program will take seven or eight years to complete, but will be paid for out of current revenues when completed. This type program will make it unnecessary for the school district to bond itself and pay interest on the needed funds. Bids were accepted on 3 contracts for supplying school needs for the coming year before the board adjourned.
