the mormon church and next in rank in the church to the next presidency died saturday at an one e clock at his home I 1 1014 third avenue following an acute cuti illness of only two t dy days his Is death was due to pneumonia which he contracted last sanday while in the performance of church dutie sin in box elder counts where he went to attend stake conferences feren foren ferencek ces while driving overland from brigham city he caught cold which brought on the fatal attack nothing daunted by his disposition however apostle lyman contin ed at his work u until 6 wednesday but ht when the attack became a BO serious that he was forced to lake to his bed reports from his home yesterday w were em I 1 that h at he was seemingly imar improved v ad but last at tight night he had a sinking spell and at tl 11 he be lapsed into incie nesa no in which state he passed away apostle lyman was one of the most conspicuous char characters actors of the mormon churgo church to which bich he devoted almost his entire career he was known throughout the state the united states and the foreign countries for his hia activities in church work he was also a participant in the building up and the development of utah born in illinois in 1810 he accompanied the first of the pioneers that came maceross the plains in 1848 to make their home in utah at the age ol of 8 years he drove an ox team over the plains when he was waa hardly able to lift the yoke that went around the neeka necks of the oxen ilia his life in utah has bail been that of the pioneer builder who rose roae superior to the trials and hardships of the early days he was at a community builder and an influential figure in business and civic life as well at the time of his death he was a director in the Z C M I 1 the zions but at the same time desired that he be industries and the state should develop on lines which would not be effected by modern as surrounded by only a few members bers of hm his immediate family death came his death was a shock while his condition in view of his years was considered serious it was not believed to be critical the cold he caught while traveling seven miles across country sunday he nursed on hia big return home and attended to his duties in the bishops building on an monday tuesday and wednesday that night however he found himself real ill and had to be ac compan ned led home ty
